About the Author

John Garlock was the son of pioneer missionaries to Africa and spent part of his boyhood in northern Ghana. As an adult, he founded South Africa Bible Institute in Brakpan, South Africa, and later served as academic dean at Continental Theological Seminary in Brussels, Belgium. The author of Teaching as Jesus Taught and Keys to Better Preaching, John also wrote the annotations for the Book of Proverbs in the Spirit-Filled Life Bible.

John served on many Bible college staffs in the U.S., Europe, Africa, and Asia. His greatest passion was teaching, and he loved nothing more than visiting former students to teach in their churches and Bible schools. His longest tenure was as an instructor at Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas, Texas, from 1973 to 1995. After leaving his teaching position in 1995, he continued traveling around the world to teach and preach. John went home to be with the Lord in 2003.

Today, thousands of people whose lives he influenced are scattered across the globe planting churches and preaching the Good News.
