Overview

Killer Frost (Mythos Academy Series #6) by Jennifer Estep

I've battled the Reapers of Chaos before--and survived. But this time I have a Bad, Bad Feeling it's going to be a fight to the death. . .most likely mine.

Yeah, I've got my psychometry magic, my talking sword, Vic, and even the most dangerous Spartan on campus at my side in Logan freaking Quinn, but I'm no match for Loki, the evil Norse god of chaos. I may be Nike's Champion, but at heart, I'm still just Gwen Frost, that weird Gypsy girl everyone at school loves to gossip about.

Then someone I love is put in more danger than ever before, and something inside me snaps. This time, Loki and his Reapers are going down for good . . . or I am.

I know this may sound strange but whenever I get attached to a series that I LOVE it can take me up to months to finish the last book. As soon as the book hits my hands I will leave it on the shelf with my stomach FULL of anxiety. Literally. My mind entertains the thought of just having the guts of picking up the book and reading it. Seriously, I avoided this book purposely. I love this series. I just couldn’t bear the thought of it ending. Not to mention I was super nervous. Plot: This story picks up where the last book left off. Gwen has grown tremendously since the start of the series and is ready for a fight. This fight is one that has been brewing since the beginning so you can imagine how hard my heart was beating. The plot moved at a medium pace. Things would go slow and then speed up. At times, I thought, “This is it. The big show-down.” And then nothing. And then once it did hit the big fight I was totally unprepared for it! LOL!! Friendship/Love: Even though in the beginning Gwen kept to herself, over the course of the series she has made some pretty great friends. These friends are loyal and some of the best friends you can find. Not to mention her hottie spartan boyfriend who makes me swoon every time he enters the page. *SWOON* In all seriousness, her friends and Spartan are awesome. They are her rock and keep her going. Ending: The ending is so bittersweet yet it ended perfectly. Gwen has face her greatest opponent and came out on top. Though not without sacrifices. At first, I was scared but it turned out okay. *Glares at author for heart attacked given* (J/K) I love it. The ending is fitting. I’m sad that it is over. This is an excellent series!! If you have not read it, you should. I honestly think this series is one of those “rare gems” that deserves more praise and promotion. In the midst of chaos, Killer Frost provides great action and entertainment. Gritty yet satisfying, Killer Frost is an enjoyable ride that you need to read.

Killer Frost by Jennifer Estep is the 6th book and final book in her Mythos Academy series. Estep gives us an exciting, action packed and wild finale with Gwen Frost and her friends at Mythos Academy, as they battle Loki and the Reapers. I am not going to tell too much about this book, as I do not want to give out spoilers, and the whole book is filled with them. But I will say that it was such a fabulous story all the way through. Estep just kept giving us more and more of Gwen, as she knows what she has to do to protect her friends and family. Gwen grows up even more, learning how to use her magic, and putting together many of the clues her goddess Nike told her over the years. It was so exciting; I could not put the book down, as I was dying to see how this would all end. Believe me when I tell you, there was so many battles, you worried if Gwen & her friends would survive. What I loved about this final book is that we got to see so many of the characters we have come to love throughout this series. Besides, Gwen, Logan, Daphne, Carson, Vic, Nyx, Grandma Frost, Nickamedes, Metis, and so many others from Mythos; we got to see Rory & Rachel, the Grypons (including baby gryphon). We also must suffer the terrible deeds of Vivian, Agrona, and Loki in their quest to kill Gwen and all of those at Mythos Academy. There so many things that happened throughout, but the last 1/3 of the book was a humdinger, with so many shocking events that glued you to your seat even more. So many thoughts as you raced to finish in this exciting mind-boggling climax. Will Gwen survive? Will Gwen ever finally payback Vivian for all that she has done to hurt her family? Will Loki be defeated in his quest to take over the world? What will happen to Logan, Daphne, or Carson? There are so many more, that I found myself holding my breath to the end. Jennifer Estep has outdone herself with this final book, as I loved every moment, even when things were disastrous. I will miss Gwen Frost and her fun gang of friends, and Mythos Academy. It was a wonderful ride. Thank you, Jennifer Estep for this fabulous series.

Actually KILL her. Sanctus Star at Ethereal. Her NOOK needs to charge, so she might not be on a lot today. Check in every hour or so if you can. The other members will try to kill you and torture you. Be careful. Their way if torture is cptearing a stomach open with claws an teeth and dropping a savage rat inside. Not pretty. TRY OVER AND OVER TO KILL HER

3-1/2 stars After a somewhat weak start, the final story of the war against the Reapers came to an end. While I didn't think it was quite as tight as the previous books, it all came together at the end, giving us a nice wrap up to Gwen's dilemma. I'll miss the characters and the school.
