It was a good book, not as good as some in the series but enjoyable for sure. As the series progresses it takes on different directions some work more than others. I loved Shay and Roman and as always Stefan.

Not as good as previous books, but still very good.

A great story in a great series. I just don't understand why such a good writer has so many writing errors! It almost seems like they don't care. They need to do a final read through, or hire an editor - or a better editor - if they have one. Deb in NH

*received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review* This read was okay, but it definitely left me wanting. Roman and Shay were pretty cute, but with the villain slinking around (and not doing a very enticing time of it) their romance felt a little lacking. I loved the way they came together and his secret regarding Shay and his art pieces, but that's about the highlight of their relationship for me. The eerie presence wasn't very creepy. I was mildly wary when the black eyes appeared, but after that, it seemed dull. It wasn't as exciting as the previous installments, but since the last book was the BEST I've read so far, I can't entirely blame this story for being out-shined. The writing was pretty good, but it was lengthy at some parts and it did a lot of 'energy' info, which took away from what creepiness I could get out of it. At times I'd find myself skimming through every other paragraph, and I don't like that so I tend to reread, which is why it took me so long to finish it. I recommend this to those who like a good suspenseful read with psychics, but because this theme was more business-like (last book starred a gardener) I personally couldn't find much interest beyond the psychic aspect and murders.

I've read Books 1 - 3 and book 5. All have been outstanding. Good, fun, interesting reads with a character who has unique psychic ablilities. Good suspense too!

Exciting book. I found myself liking Shay very much. I was drawn into her plight because I liked her. This book was very tense and exciting.

Enjoyable paranormal suspense… Shay Lassiter runs a charitable foundation that helps those in need including animals. She has psychic abilities tied to energies and reading people. A year ago her fiancé tried to psychically kill her but with the help of friends she survived and turned the tide against him. She has been guarded ever since and questions her abilities after they failed her in truly seeing who her fiancé was. She meets Roman and is stunned by what he makes her feel but there is a wall around him, something blocking her from reading him and that is a serious concern. Roman Chandler is an ex-cop who is now a computer security specialist and an artist. He’s had a relationship with Shay via computer for a while and has been looking forward to meeting her in person now that he is back in town. She has been his muse and his paintings are of her though he painted them without a face. He wonders how to tell her this and how she will take it as their relationship progresses. He has had no psychic dealings before and has much to accept to be with Shay; for it is a part of her, it is who she is. People that Shay knows are dying, one close to her, others acquaintances and something about it really doesn’t feel right. Shay reaches out to her psychic friend Stefan as well as Ronin Chandler, a cop who she has had dealings with before and the brother to Roman. Together they seek the person behind the dark evil energy that is causing harm to those that Shay cares about. This was an enjoyable paranormal suspense with a compelling storyline which will have you suspending your belief system. An open mind is needed as there is much of the psychic in this book. There are multiple points of views which heightened the mystery and intrigue. My attention was captured from page one and kept until the end. This reader did not see the twist in the identity of the perpetrator coming. The romance between Shay and Roman was sweet, they are the life partner that each has been waiting for. The romance was a bit overshadowed by all the action in the story. You do not need to have read the other books in the series to enjoy this one. One thing of note, this book could have used an editor, noted 28 errors which were distracting.
