Author Kurt Vonnegut first made this game in 1956, though it never saw the light of day. Now, decades later, it's become a beloved board game. GHQ (General Headquarters) is sharp, strategic two-player war game played on an 8×8 checkerboard, where players maneuver infantry, tanks, artillery, and an airborne regiment to capture their opponent’s headquarters.
World War 2 veteran Kurt Vonnegut's first novel, Player Piano, was published in 1954. While it was critically well received and reprinted in 1955, it was not a financial success. As he worked on his next novel (which would eventually become Cat's Cradle), he needed to supplement his income with other endeavors.
