Production of seed in field can seldom be planted in the conditions in which it comes from the growers. In fact seed lot received from the field are often at high moisture content and contain trash and other insert material, weed seed, deteriorated and damaged seeds, off sized etc. seed processing is necessary in order to dry the seed to safe moisture level, remove or reduce to extent possible the various undesirable material, weed see, other crop seeds, deteriorated or damaged seeds, uniform size grading and treatment of the seed to upgrade the overall seed quality.
