I'm a former Java developer who hasn't written code in at least 5 years. I decided it was finally time to get my coding skills back up to a place where I could prototype some personal projects on my own. I had previously attempted to learn Ruby/Rails with the CodeAcademy tutorials, but found that they were too task-based, and lacked the context of a real-world scenario to make it all tie together. So glad I came across this book. It's a bargain at only $10. Kehoe takes you through everything you need to configure, code, and deploy a simple but real-world Rails app. It's simple, clear and easy to follow. He doesn't go into a ton of detail around some ancillary technologies like Foundation, but you at least know they exist and can go dive deeper when you need.
