PreS—Yaya and Boo are medium-sized dogs, both black-and-white, and easy to spot against the colorful backdrop of Knapp's domestic photographed stills. Or are they? On the front porch, Boo is barely visible over some wild boxwoods, while Yaya tucks in along the rails. In the bathroom, one is only seen in the reflection of the mirror, while the other has all but disappeared behind the tub. In the kitchen, will preschoolers look up to see Yaya on top of the cupboard? It's a great game, which will have children double-checking the identity of the dogs and some wayward stuffed animals as well. VERDICT An old-school hide-and-seek in a refreshingly updated setting, this book rewards the sharp-eyed and has a lot more to point out and label.
