About the Author

I am one of four daughters of an ordinary Midwest couple who lived through the horrific events of WWII. While cleaning out my parents house after their deaths, I discovered a box containing over 100 letters they wrote to each other while separated during the war. My sisters and I did not know their story because they never talked about their war experiences. Reading their letters and seeing the historical war telegrams and documents they saved revealed a stunning story of love, courage, hope and patience during the war years that I felt was worth telling.
