Overview

Sesame, an old woman in frail health, is trapped in the attic with no explanation. A woman and her two small girls live on the first floor, none of whom pay the old woman any mind. Though she tries calling out, banging on walls, and stomping on the floors, her cries for help go ignored.Sesame spends her days writing letters to her sister, Eula, who left home decades ago. She writes about the strange goings-on that has been occurring. Soon, it becomes certain to everyone living in the house that there is a ghostly presence, firmly rooted among them; disturbing the peace and creating fears beyond reason. The house surely is haunted. Only the ending reveals by whom.

Reviewed by Trisha Dawn for Readers' Favorite Letters to Eula by Michael Bussa tells the story of Sesame who has been living in the attic and has lost count of how long it has been. She has been writing letters to her sister, Eula, about the goings-on in the house she is living in. Apparently there are new tenants downstairs – a mother and her two young girls – but she has never properly met them. Sesame has regarded them as ghosts because of their peculiar actions. But just who are they really and what is going on? This story is quite supernatural in a good way. Being a lover of fiction, most especially horror stories, Letters to Eula has taken me on a different path. It is refreshing. One doesn’t often get to read such an interesting story line. Michael Bussa’s novel is straightforward and complicated, all at the same time. Just when I thought I knew where the story was heading, the final pages threw me off guard! Letters to Eula by Michael Bussa is easy to read and readers would be able to picture the scenario Sesame is trying to describe to Eula in her letters, but the plot is deep. There’s more to it than the obvious story. It will make readers really interested to keep on reading. Also, it may be a work of fiction, but there is a raw quality to it. There is honesty in Sesame’s tone that people can identify with. The actions of the downstairs trio are also realistic. Any real person stuck in the same situation would have reacted how they did. This is a really great story, a rare find in fiction. Letters to Eula is a must-read.
