Introduction
What is a lifeline? Webster's Collegiate Dictionary (Eleventh Edition) states that it is "something regarded as indispensable for the maintaining or protection of life" and "a line used for saving or preserving life." In short, a lifeline is something we can't do without.
God's Word is our lifeline. It is our handbook for success on this earth-containing wisdom, counsel, direction, and strength for every situation we face. It is something to hold onto when times get tough. It's what pulls you up when the circumstances of life threaten to overwhelm you. It's the Source that shows you the way when there seems to be no way. The Psalmist put it well when he said, Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105).
Are you looking for answers to everyday life? Do you need encouragement for the road ahead? As I have sought God over the years, He has taught me many powerful lessons-lessons on character, grace, love, responsibility, faith, forgiveness, obedience, humility, prosperity, and every other facet of life-lessons that I am grateful to be able to share with you in this book.
I have organized this devotional into five different sections: Faith; Grace and Forgiveness; Character; Life in Christ; and Secrets of Daily Living. These are all areas that I believe arecritical to growing in Christ and becoming all that God has intended for us to be.
God says in Jeremiah 33:3, Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things ... In Proverbs 8:17, He promises, And those who seek me diligently will find me (NKJV).
It is vitally important for each one of us to make an investment into God's Word. I've found that many people are looking for happiness and fulfillment, but they're willing to gamble with their lives and try many things that only lead them to ruin and devastation. However, when we invest our lives and our time into seeking God's ways and learning Kingdom principles, His Word promises that we will prosper and have good success (see Joshua 1:8). By doing things God's way, we can be happier than we ever imagined and reap dividends of joy, peace, satisfaction, mercy, contentment, and a life that gives glory to Jesus Christ.
I encourage you to incorporate these devotions into your daily time with God. Meditate on them. Pray about them. Allow God to use them to show you the "great and mighty things" He has for your life. As you do, I pray that you will enter into a greater relationship with Jesus Christ than you've ever known before. God bless you!
