Life's Gateway to Happiness (The Show Me Series Book 2) by Annie Stone is her second book in The Show Me series. This book can be read as a standalone but I would highly recommend reading the first book also as it was just as enjoyable. This story will make you laugh, cry and angry in parts. This author has created characters that are lovable, true to life and just plain connectable. You will enjoy how they pop off the page. They will keep your attention until the last page. Find out what happens with these characters as they build their relationship and the importance of family. Kelly Samuels thought she had her dream job with Lattice Works until she didn't. She has been dictated her job and has had several promotions in a short time. Which is why her family was shocked when she returned home with out a job and she wasn't giving any explanations. Alec Alvarez is focused on his doctor job, he has come from a long line of pediatricians in his family. He declared that he doesn't want love, marriage or babies, he wants to stay single for life. What will happen when he finds her along side of the road? Are they prepared for feelings that neither one expected? The closer the get to each other, he questions why she is so hesitant to his touch. The happy go lucky girl that she once was just wants to find herself. What will happen when he steps in to find out the real reason she lost her job? Will she come to terms with what happened to her and be able to move on with her life? Will he give up being single for her? Kelly and Alec's relationship is one that grows throughout the story. Their story is a sweet romance but not one without struggles. Kelly has a deep down secret that has affected her and caused her to lose her job. Alec is confused on why she flinches when he touches her and when asking her she gives him two different stories. Which one is the truth? Will Alec find out? What will happen to them when the truth finally comes out. In my opinion, this author did a great job of Kelly's point of view of this story with the care it needed. Kelly's past is sad and will make you angry but it also a difficult one. The author really did such a great job with it. The secondary characters in this story are great. This story not only focuses on Kelly and Alec but also both of their families. They make the story flow and it wouldn't be the same without them. Find out what happens with these characters when they start their journey after she is rescued by him. This is my second story by Annie Stone, I can't wait to see what she will have for us next in this series. Her writing style keeps your attention and is engaging until the last page. Her story will pull you in from the first chapter and keep you going. You will need to see what happens to this couple. Anne currently lives in Wisconsin with her faithful Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She loves to write to tell a story. She works part of her day in the corporate world and the other part with her heroes and heroines. This is a fast paced story that will keep you going. It just flows with these characters. It was hard for me to put this book down. I highly recommend this story as I know it will pull at your heart strings like it did for me.

This is a sweet romantic story. The characters are well developed and the story line is well done. I felt that the dialog was too repetitive with the characters saying the same thing over and over instead of referring to what happened previously. Other than that, the story left me with a good feeling and I was happy with the outcome. This book was given to me as a gift and I chose to provide a review.

This book is the second in a series that follows the Alvarez and Samuels families. I have not read the first book and can say that I don't believe that I will have to because Angelina and Alejandro appear throughout Alec and Kelly's story often and provide a lot of background. This book was a little slow for me but overall a good book. It does pick up with some twist that make you wonder what really happened to Kelly. Kelly used to be fun loving and outgoing. She did what she needed to do to be the best at her job and school. However she is now a shell of herself when she makes a surprise visit home. How can Alec help Kelly get back to the person she used to be and at what cost? Alec is a pediatrician that will do anything for his patients and those that he loves. He is all about his work and isn't looking for love until Kelly comes home and makes him realize that something is missing. I would recommend this book for those that like a slow progression of a love story that does have some twist and turns. This is not an insta-love and that really worked for me because it did make it more believable. **Copy gifted by Author**

This is the second book of Ms Stone’s series, Show Me and once again, are reunited with the Alvarez and Samuels families. In this one, the couple we spend time with are Alec Alvarez, a pediatrician and Kelly, who works in the IT department of Lattice Works. Kelly’s sister, Angelina, is married to Alec’s brother, Alejandro, a transplant organ surgeon. Alec and Kelly meet again by accident , literally, and their relationship develops into a friendship. We find out that Kelly has been fired and is taking refuge with Alejandro and Angelina. She is no longer the carefree , happy person she was months ago. The deeper plot deals with abuse and sexual harassment in the workplace and the author shows us how it affects the victim. I have to say I loved Alec . Aside from the fact that Kelly was exasperating and I felt should have been more proactive, and that the story could have been 50 pages shorter, it was a very good book. Sensitive subject dealt with professionalism, and once again ,Ms Stone shows us that family , loyalty, and love are really what’s important in life. Thank you Ms Stone for another thought provoking story. I was gifted this book . The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I love a book that grabs me from page one and keeps me turning the pages and Life’s Gateway to Happiness certainly did that and then some. Kelly gets fired from her job despite receiving three promotions in the year and one-half that she has worked for Lattice Works. It shakes her to her core, so much so that she goes home to visit her sister and feels so humiliated that she doesn’t tell her family what really happened. While she is home trying to heal her emotional wounds she is reacquainted with Alec who is the handsome doctor and self-declared bachelor for life. He has no time or desire for marriage, kids or the white picket fence, that is until he sees Kelly in a ditch after almost hitting a deer and comes to her rescue. Despite “non-dates” and growing closer, Alec must find a way to break through Kelly’s hurt and shame and she is going to prove to be a tough nut to crack. He definitely has his work cut out for him. I thought this book was well written with just enough drama to keep you wondering and reading until the end. This contemporary romance has characters that are likable, relatable and genuine and you find yourself wanting to get to know them better. The author holds back on the “why” and gives that to you a little bit at a time which makes it hard to put the book down. Overall, this was a very enjoyable book with a few surprises that you weren’t expecting. Life’s Second Chances is the 2nd book in the Show Me Series. These books can be read out of order. However, they do build on the characters and relationships in the first book, so I would read them in order. This first book, Life’s Second Chances is just as good as this one. I received an ARC of Life’s Gateway to Happiness in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
