Whew! This may be the best book yet for Ms Dylan. There are two story lines. Are they related? Maybe, maybe not. Someone is out to stop Sophie. Are they involved in one case or the other, or both? I must admit, when we got down to the last case, I did not see the end being resolved the way it was. Ms Dylan is a master at keeping the reader in suspense right to the end. Good show! The second book in the series, Lone Witness is expertly written. The characters are very likable; strong yet vulnerable. It was so much fun immersing myself in their lives. There are many characters to keep track of, so you might want to write their names down, and their roles to keep them all straight. I believe this is one book you will not want to put down.

Lone Witness is a fast-paced legal romantic suspense novel that will have the readers' hearts racing throughout the entire novel! This book is full of twists-and-turns and will keep the readers guessing. Deadly Proof (the first book in the series) was amazing, but I think Lone Witness is even better. Prosecutor Sophie Dawson is dealing with the dangers of serving as the key witness in the double homicide trial of a powerful gang leader's younger brother while at the same time trying to prosecute a senior bank manager from a well-known local bank who is accused of stealing from his clients. As Sophie faces numerous threats to her life, private security guard Cooper Knight is enlisted to serve as her bodyguard. Lone Witness can be read as a stand alone novel, but I think would be even more enjoyable to read Deadly Proof first, since the story follows the journey of two of the secondary characters from the first novel. I have enjoyed watching how the group of friends have come together in the first novel, and how all the characters still play a role in the second book. However, if you have not already read Deadly Proof, the author provides enough backstory so that readers will not feel lost reading Lone Witness. Rachel Dylan weaves the characters' faith seamlessly into the novel and creates a powerful, authentic story that her readers will not want to put down. Faith and forgiveness are important themes in this novel. I had to laugh when Sophie's friend Mia described what Sophie was looking for in a guy. She said, "You want a knight in shining armor along with the happily ever after. You want a smoking hot, muscle-bound, romantic, off-the-charts smart guy with a great sense of humor and a steady job he loves who's ready to settle down like, right now, and start a family...and oh, let's not forget he has to share your faith. Does that about cover it?" Sometimes we're so busy looking for perfection that we don't realize the perfect person for us may already be in our lives, flaws and all. Fans of authors Lynette Eason, Lynn H. Blackburn, and Elizabeth Goddard will love this latest novel by Rachel Dylan. I definitely recommend this book and can't wait to start reading Breach of Trust (the third book in the series). Rachel Dylan is quickly becoming one of my new favorite romantic suspense authors.

Lone Witness, book two of the Atlanta Justice series by Rachel Dylan, is a page-turner! It definitely stands on its own, as just the main characters from the previous novel are mentioned. I loved Sophie, the feminine lead. She had a strong sense of who she was and what she wanted out of life. She was equally aware of potential weaknesses in her life. There was plenty of action, lots of bad guys, and much looking over your shoulder. For those who enjoy suspense and courtroom drama, this is a book you'll want to pick up. I received this book from the publisher, Bethany House, for review purposes. The thoughts expressed here are my own.

This is book 2 in the Atlanta Justice series, it is a stand alone book. You will miss some history in some of the sub characters, plus a good read, but you will have no problem keeping up with the story if you jump right into this one. Rachel Dylan has a great writing style. This book is full of mystery, suspense, action, friendship and of course romance. Prosecutor Sophie Dawson is a beautiful, hardworking, determined woman with a heart of gold. Even though she does not have to work, she loves seeing justice served and the job she has. When she is in need of protection Cooper Knight is the man for the job. Cooper is a handsome, former police officer who now has his own private security company. I love the sparks between Cooper and Sophie, the suspense and mystery as well. I look forward to the next book in this series and love the fact you keep up with past characters.

Lone Witness by Rachel Dylan is the second book in her Atlanta Justice series. Prosecutor Sophie Dawson is the only witness to a ruthless double murder by the younger brother of a notorious gang leader. Now, she must testify and prosecute a local bank employee who might be cheating his customers, all while staying out of the cross-hairs of the gang. Convinced that she is in danger her father hires Cooper Knight as Sophie’s bodyguard. With threats coming from everywhere, Cooper and Sophie are not sure whom they can trust. Will Cooper be able to keep Sophie alive to testify? It’s only a matter of time before someone strikes again and this time it could be fatal. Wow, this story was very intense! From the very beginning you were sucked in and it never let up. There were a few surprises that I didn’t see coming. I loved the interaction between Sophie and Cooper and the way they supported each other in their weaknesses. I was afraid that the court room dialogue would become too technical but Ms. Dylan made it all very easy to follow and not be boring. I would highly recommend this series to anyone who likes fast paced action thrillers. I received this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

Lone Witness (Atlanta Justice Book #2) by [Dylan, Rachel]I was given this book by Bethany House in exchange for my honest review. Sophie Dawson has just started working as a prosecutor in the White Collar division in Fulton County. Her first case is to investigate a bank employee who may be cheating customers. Soon she finds that she is the sole witness to a double homicide. This was not what she was expecting, at all. Cooper Knight, a former police office and now a private security guard has accepted a job of keeping Sophie safe. Before long, neither of them know who they can trust. This book places the reader inside both of these legal professions. Dylan has created characters which are strong and complex. This is the second book in the series. The characters from the first book show up as secondary characters. The third book in this series is due out in 2019.

Author Rachel Dylan takes the reader behind the scenes of two trials totally unconnected. The witness for one is a member of the Atlanta legal prosecutory team and who is concurrently prosecuting another banking case. Her roll in both cases the one for which she is the Lone Witness and the other for which she is the lead prosecutor will keep the reader on the edge of his or her seat as they read. As events unfold, it becomes startlingly clear that Sophie's life is in danger. There is not just a threat with which to be concerned there are actual moves against her that drastically endanger her very being. Sophie's father secures a body guard to protect her - one of the perks of coming from a monied family; but even though he is a top notch protector, danger still finds Sophie. The dramatic conclusion of this story had me totally surprised. The story has a sweet romance. This work of fiction sits squarely in the Christian fiction world yet doesn't "preach" to the reader. I enjoyed this book and look forward to more of Rachel Dylan's work. Sophie Dawson is one tough cookie! Despite her perilous position as the sole witness of a gang-related double homicide, Sophie continues to work tenaciously on building her other assigned case in the white collar division. Cooper Knight is fully committed to his current task of keeping Sophie safe in every possible way, including protecting her heart from the growing attraction between them. Cooper has plans for his life and romantic relationships are not included. Courage is not the absence of fear but the power to act in the presence of fear… in my opinion, Sophie and Cooper are truly courageous! I highly recommend this engaging series and eagerly anticipate the release of book three! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.

Lone Witness by Rachel Dylan is the second installment in the Atlanta Justice series. This one revolves around Sophie, one of three friends who are lawyers. After working long hours on her first case in White Collar Crimes, Assistant DA, Sophie Dawson, stops by a convenience store for a snack to take home. While Sophie selects some goodies, a gunman enters the store, shoots the clerk and an innocent bystander and flees the scene. But not before Sophie sees his face. Her father hires Cooper Knight to be her bodyguard. But who of her colleagues is on her side? Who can she really trust? Which of her cases holds the clue to her harassment? This is an interesting look at how cases are handled, with a bit of romance and some excitement along the way. I have enjoyed both books in this series and look forward to the third. This is a book to make you think as well as feed your need for suspense! * I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher on behalf of the author. I was not required to give a favorable review. All opinions are my own.* Paula Shreckhise

Last fall, I shared with you a new author I'd found. Rachel Dylan had just released the first book in her Atlanta Justice series, Deadly Proof. Now, I get to share with you book two in that series, Lone Witness. Lone Witness continues to share the story of two Atlanta friend groups, with this story focusing on Sophie and Cooper. Sophie has just received a promotion at the Fulton County DA's office, working on a high profile case involving a local bank when her life is turned upside down. Sophie is the lone witness to a double homicide involving one of the most notorious gangs in Atlanta.  Private security guard Cooper Knight is hired by Sophie's father to provide protection.  As Sophie's life is further placed in peril, Sophie and Cooper have to constantly be questioning who they can trust.  Despite the threats to her life, Sophie continues to pursue truth. With Cooper by her side, Sophie pushes forward despite many attempts to thwart her progress. And as Cooper works to keep Sophie safe, both realize there is something greater pulling these two together.  I love the focus of a female solving the puzzle, and being the driving force behind the story. Dylan writes an engaging narrative that had me reading until I finished because I couldn't put the book down! Dylan adds a unique voice to the landscape of authors writing in the Christian romance and suspense genre. Rather than focusing on a criminal justice agency, Dylan invites us into the legal side of criminal justice and shows the reader how things work from a perspective not previously covered by other authors. I've thoroughly enjoyed learning some of how the legal side of the criminal justice system works. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. This review is my own, honest opinion.

I decided to review the book Lone Witness by Rachel Dylan recently. I do not typically read Mystery/Detective type novels but I decided to try this one. This book is the second in the Atlanta Justice series. I did not read the first book and you do not need to as this book stands alone. Sophie Dawson is the heroine of the story and the main character. She is an attorney who is involved in prosecuting a case involving a high profile financial institution. She also just happens to be the only witness to a crime involving the mob. I found the above situation to be a bit unbelievable especially considering the fact that she is also described as being very beautiful and has so much money from her family that she doesn't need to work. Putting all that aside, the book moves along well and is a good summer read. Rachel Dylan weaves a very suspenseful story with elements of faith interwoven in. She develops her characters fairly well and leaves you guessing as to the outcome of the story until the end. I will probably go and find her first book from this series. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting a quick mystery fix! I think I may even read more books from the genre in the future. I received this book from Bethany House for my honest review.

Action packed suspense with romance too! What an unusual turn of events when a prosecutor working on one white collar case is the lone witness to a double murder by a gang member. The stakes are high for both cases – and Sophie must keep her wits about her to bring justice for both cases. I never knew who was good and who was bad as I read this novel! I so enjoyed reading this novel! It’s the second in the Atlanta Justice series but, except for a couple of characters reappearing – they are friends – this stands alone. I loved how the characters go to church and talk about the importance of their faith and even wrestle with faith “I’m trying to have faith that God has it all under control, but right now it’s hard.” This is a great book and I recommend it! I received a copy of this book from the publisher. I am freely writing a review - all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Lone Witness is book two from Rachel Rylan's series, Atlanta Justice. I liked the first book of the series, Deadly Proof, but enjoyed this one so much more. I was captivated with Sophie from the start, especially when she was introduced to Cooper. He would do anything to protect her. Their story was full of mystery, suspense, action and adventure. I give Lone Witness 4 1/2 stars and I am looking forward to the third release from the Atlanta Justice series. I recommend this suspenseful read. I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

Rachel Dylan did a great job following a solid start to the Atlanta Justice series in Lone Witness. Sophie is strong and independent. Cooper is suave and solid. Two from very different backgrounds and upbringing, but both with a strong value system. I love their connection from the start, but to me the highlight is the various twists and turns between the different cases, and the danger they're facing. With perfect pacing and great characters (still love the girlfriend camaraderie between our group of legal best friends), Lone Witness is not a lone piece at all. There's a strong message of trust between our characters that flesh out piece by piece until the end. The activities throughout enticed readers to kept their eyes glue to the pages with action, danger, and intrigue when it came to the witness prep, running from the target on both Sophie and Cooper's backs and behind the scenes of the legal system. There's an interesting subterfuge between the players in the cases that had a feel of TV drama. Filled with cunning and witty dialogue, Lone Witness was a fun read. Don't miss it! Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher. I was not required to write a positive review, and have not been compensated for this. This is my honest opinion.

Lone Witness is the second story in Rachel Dylan's Atlanta Justice series and was just as exciting and action packed as its predecessor. Sophie Dawson witnesses a double homicide tied to one of Atlanta's largest gangs and finds her life is in danger as she pursues justice. Rachel Dylan's writing drew me in from the start and I never saw the final twist coming! I would recommend Dylan's books for fans of legal thrillers.

This was the first book that I have read by Rachel Dylan and it was a very good book with realistic characters and scenes from current events. I liked getting to know the prosecutor Sophie through the pages of the book. She was determined to continue to work on her case in spite of having her life threatened by a local gang boss. The secondary plot of a threat from a totally different direction was an unexpected surprise. The details about the possible corruption at a financial institution that Sophie was investigating and getting ready to prosecute was rather ho-hum, but when I got to the end, I saw the need for it. Readers who enjoy a clean read with a little romance and some suspense will like this book. I enjoy more suspense, but I was satisfied with the conclusion so I do recommend this book. I really thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, although it took me longer to read than normal because of finals week in school... The story is kind of slow paced to give a lot of information about the cases Sophie is dealing with, the dangers she goes through, and the different people involved. The only thing I didn't like was the underdevelopment of characters and the romance. Sophie and Ashley were probably the most developed characters. However, the others weren't very developed at all. And while you could see the love Sophie had for Cooper, you never really saw the resolution fully developed at the end between them. Overall, though, I really enjoyed this book a lot.

Plot Synopsis She’s the Only Witness to a Brutal Crime. Now She Can’t Outrun the Target on Her Back. Prosecutor Sophie Dawson has taken a new role at the Fulton County DA’s office, and her first case involves a local bank employee who may be cheating customers. She’s determined to bring justice to those who’ve lost their savings . . . but her life is turned upside down when she becomes the only witness to a double homicide involving a vengeful gang. With her life at risk, friends and family convince her that she needs protection, and private security guard Cooper Knight is hired as a bodyguard. But as threats escalate, neither Cooper nor Sophie knows whom they can trust. Unwilling to back down on either case, Sophie pursues the truth at any cost. But her bank litigation gets more complicated by the day, and the gang will stop at nothing to keep her from taking the stand. With all sides closing in, steadfast Cooper is the only man she can lean on. But drawing close may be the distraction that costs both of their lives. My Review After reading Deadly Proof, the first book in the Atlanta Justice Series by Rachel Dylan, I could not wait to get my hands on book two: Lone Witness. Sophie Dawson is an excellent character. She’s humble and very relatable. She has her career, her friends and a dad that would go to the moon and back for her. But she is hoping to meet “the one” and isn’t willing to settle. Her security guard Cooper Knight is honest and fortchcoming about who he is. His character is very self-aware and the chemistry between them is magical. The pace is thrilling and realistic. Lone Witness was a great follow up book to Deadly Proof. You can catch me rereading both books in anticipation of book 3! * I received a complimentary copy of this book, Lone Witness, from Bethany House Publishing in exchange for my honest review.

This second novel in the Atlanta Justice series can stand on its own, though it brings back a few characters from the previous book. Like that first book, this novel's strength is in the legal side of things, how the cases unfold in and out of the courtroom. I anticipated the more explosive moments of danger, but there were other key twists I didn't see coming. While this novel is labeled as romantic suspense, I'm not sure I'd call it that. Because it includes the perspectives of several characters, two of which are involved in their own subplot, it's more of a story about various people than about a romantic couple. Also like the first book, the romance thread isn't the novel's strong point. There's a lot of clichéd phrasing, a trite feel to the development, and though the story tells us Sophie and Cooper have "intense physical chemistry," I wasn't convinced of it. The turning point/climax of their relationship comes about with a major change of mind, but we don't get to see a gradual process or a momentous event that brings about that specific change, to make it more believable. Nevertheless, Sophie's contrasting roles as lawyer and witness kept me interested, and other fans of ChristFic legal suspense should enjoy this read. ____________ Bethany House provided me with a complimentary copy of this book for an honest review.

This is the second book in this series that I have been able to read and review and I really enjoy this author. Most of this type of story that I read has female police officers or FBI agents but in this series, the heroines are lawyers and the heroes are ex-military or police officers that have a private agency of their own. The stories are very detailed and there is a lot of lawyer / prosecutor type information – they are always researching their case. I thought that might make these a little dry and harder to read, but that has not been the case. I find the detail very interesting and I will pursue more of this type fiction from this author. This is the story of Sophie Dawson, an Assistant DA in Atlanta and her bodyguard, Cooper Knight, who has been retained to protect her when she suddenly becomes a witness to a murder and her role is now different than her day-to-day role in the DA’s office. There is a lot of action and nail-biting adventure but also a lot of detail and background information on the cases involved. Faith is interwoven into the story and plays a big part in the points of view of the characters. I highly recommend this book and its predecessor to anyone who wants an interesting read that’s a little out of the norm. I received this book from Bethany House in exchange for a review.

Lone Witness by Rachel Dylan is book two in the amazing Atlanta Justice Series. A female prosecutor, by chance, witnesses a heinous crime, a double homicide, and identifies the killer as an infamous drug lord’s relative. This puts her in a dangerous and life-altering position. The author delivers a riveting romantic suspense plot with strong vibrant leading characters and equally developed and intriguing minor characters. Her stories convey spiritual insights and subtle lessons about moral choices that influence paths and destinies. Book one, Deadly Proof, was an excellent beginning, and Lone Witness continues to deliver an A-rated legal romantic suspense. I highly recommend Rachel Dylan’s books. I was gifted a copy of Lone Witness for an honest review.

I have loved every one of Rachel Dylan’s books, and this one is no exception! “The Lone Witness” was wonderful! Rachel does such a great job of pulling you into the book and then making it feel as if you are her main character. I’m not sure how she does this, but she does! This book had me guessing until the very end. There are three different stories going on, and at first, I was afraid it would end up being confusing. But Rachel Dylan came through, and I was able to keep up with everything. I really had a hard time putting this one down as I wanted to see how the mysteries would be solved. I loved the slight twist at the end. I really enjoyed the main characters in this book, Sophie and Connor. They are both such likeable characters. I can’t wait to see who the third book in the series is about! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that enjoys good, clean romantic suspense books. In fact, I would recommend any of Rachel Dylan’s books! I received this book from Bethany House for my honest opinion.

Rachel Dylan became a must-read author for me with her first novel, and she only gets better with each release. I was captivated by the first book in this series and Lone Witness is even more compelling. Each book stands alone but you don't want to miss a single page of these gripping novels! Dylan's expertise as an attorney brings eye-opening authenticity to this story, and her knack for combining carefully crafted personalities, a believable and ordinary setting, and spine-tingling suspense makes this story impossible to casually read and set aside. This tale will likely come to mind the next time I dash into a convenience story for a quick snack! Legal wranglings have always fascinated me, and the courtroom scenes heightened the tension.
