While Bailey Flanigan wrestles with feelings for Brandon Paul, Cody Coleman's work coaching a small-town football team has brought him and his players national attention. In the midst of the celebration and success, Cody finds himself much closer to a woman who seems to better understand him and his new life. Even so, never does much time go by without Bailey and Cody experiencing deep feelings of longing for each other, longing both for the past and for answers before they can move forward.

Will an unexpected loss be the turning point for Cody? Will Cody and Bailey find a way back together again for the first time in more than a year? And if they do, will their brief time together be enough to help them remember all they've been longing for?

So first of all, I'd like to inform you all that I am a GUY that read this book. And a teenage guy at that. And to be quite honest, until recently, I would have never even thought about picking up a Bailey Flanigan book. I would not have been caught dead reading a romance book in a house full of boys (except for my lovely mother, of course). But my mom had been talking excessively about these books for A WHILE, and I could not help but be interested. I borrowed the first of this series from my mom just to glance through it and immediately became hooked. The story was the best I've ever read and literally brought me to tears. It made me realize what a life in service to Christ is really meant to look like. I had not exactly had the most intense relationship with God, but He used this book as a tool to bring me back to Him. My relationship with my family has grown INCREDIBLY this past month, after reading the Bailey Flanigan books. Also, right before I read this series, I had just gone through an extremely difficult break-up with my girlfriend of nearly a year. God used this series to heal me in this time of sorrow, gave me the courage to forgive this girl(and to also ask for her forgiveness in some things), and provided me with a much greater understanding of what it takes to be in a godly relationship and marriage, when that time comes in my future. But best of all, I am developing a much deeper relationship with my Savior. I have recommitted to serving my God and living a life of glory to ONLY Him at all times, no matter the circumstance. I thank God for giving me this tool to bring me to my knees and to steer me back into a life of complete devotion to HIM always. I thank Mrs. Karen Kingsbury for writing these stories that God uses to touch thousands of people, and for painting this picture of a life made for Christ, that so many of us need. And i thank my mom for letting me borrow this book and for being such a godly positive influence in my life, along with my dad and the rest of my family. I recommend this book to anyone who is in need of a powerful relationship with a mighty Savior... that is EVERYONE!

Karen Kingsbury has the great God-given gift of writing. Her books are always centered around Christian values which is so refreshing. Longing is no different. In Longing, Karen takes the reader on a journey of love, friendship, hardships, and redemption. I enjoyed reading about the budding relationships that have been forming between the main character Bailey and Brandon but where does that leave her relationship with her first-love Cody? This book leaves you suspensed and waiting for more. Longing really brings to life the everyday struggles of each character and how they strive to overcome them. Every character becomes apart of you. I cannot wait for the next book: Loving. Everyone must read this series and especially the book Longing!

Book number three in the Bailey Flanigan series leaves us wondering--in the best possible way! This is the best book in the series so far, Karen Kingsbury at her best. You'll laugh, cry and cheer all at the same time. I would recommend reading the Baxter family series if you like this one, because it gives Bailey's background and also lets you into another wonderful facet of Kingsbury's imagination. This book is great for all ages of adulthood, but for me, a mid twenties woman, it especially resonated, making me think about my life choices up until now. This series, and any other book by Karen Kingsbury, will change your life if you let it!

I have to say i like the book and i could not put it down but i really don't like feeling like the baily and brandon are going to be another dane and katy type story. And i like cody better than brandon.i dont know i am kind if feeling like baily should just focus on god and not worry about a relationship right now.

I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of Karen Kingsbury's highly anticipated new book, Longing. This aptly titled novel is book number three in the Bailey Flanigan series, and one that I have been itching to get my hands on since I stayed up all night to finish the previous installment. Let's just say that I stayed up way too late finishing this one as well. Kingsbury has a way of writing characters that wrap you around their fingers, making you care deeply about their fictional lives. After reading every single book in the Baxter series I have an investment in the love story between Bailey Flannigan and Cody Coleman, and Longing finally took a definitive step towards the future of their angst filled relationship. To say that it is a step I am conflicted about would be a gross understatement. Because this is an advanced review and the book does not officially release until November 22nd, I don't feel like I can fully explore the direction Kingsbury takes Longing. I do not want to ruin the story, or even reveal any of the little surprises that pepper the book from beginning to end. I do feel the need to point out that I was ultimately a little disappointed in this novel. I'm afraid Team Cody might not even been in the game anymore. Maybe my heart broke a little, even though all the characters seemed to reach resolutions they were happy with. I just wasn't happy with them, not yet anyway. But, Brandon's character has won over Bailey, he's won over Karen Kingsbury, and maybe by the end of this series he will win over me. Of course, there is still one more book until Bailey, Cody and Brandon's story is ultimately complete. The final installment, Loving, is due out early next year. It goes without saying that I will be counting the days. Disclosure of Material: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Zondervan. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Love KK books! I'm starting to get frustrated, though with the team Cody and team Brandon thing. I'd just love to see her pick, and wrap up the book series. It's been dragging on for too long. All in all though, another great book, inspiring, and had me hooked already on the first page as always.

Another two thumbs up on this newest book in the Bailey Flanigan Series. There is such a wide variety of people in these stories and you feel like you know them all so well (if you read the books as they were written). It is a story of family and friends, of love and commitment, of seeking to put Christ first in a person's life and decisions, even when tough times come.In this story Bailey finds herself enjoying more and more the company of Hollywood's sought after actor, Brandon Paul. She still thinks about the guy, Cody Coleman, who she thought she would spend the rest of her life loving, and wonders why he has walked away from her life. Brandon Paul though helps ease the pain of loss as he falls head over heels for Bailey. Cody, meanwhile is leading his high school football team to State Finals and trying to forget Bailey and stand by a good friend as she goes through tough times in her life. But Cody and Bailey do come face to face with each other and they both have a chance to share what is on their heart. I won't ruin anything here, but just say that even though I may not have liked the direction this story is going in, I understand why things are progressing as they are. Karen Kingsbury is a great writer and the people she writes about come alive on the pages of her book. I can't wait to see how this series ends!!!

I read Longing by Karen Kingsbury this semester the Longing picks up where Learning ended. Bailey Flanigan was lonely after her long-time boyfriend, Cody Coleman, breaks up with her after he returned from Iraq. Bailey gets closer to her one-time Hollywood co-star, Brandon Paul. Brandon Paul is the hottest movie star and all the girls crush over him. Meanwhile, Bailey lives in New York city, performing on Broadway eight times a week. She can¿t help but be confused with new feelings for Brandon that make her wonder if her days with Cody are over. Cody starts getting national attention for his coaching of a small-town football team. He gets himself closer to a lady who understands him and his new life but, throughout the book, Bailey and Cody experience feelings of longing for each other, longing both for the past and for answers so they can move forward. The cover design is very modern and appealing to me. It has a piture of Bailey and Brandon Paul talking to each other. You should read this book if you want to read about love and romance. It also briefly deals with the drama of cancer and regret. Cody regrets leaving Bailey and there is a lot of feelings and emotions thrown into their encounters.

A story of people you'll fall in love with. Bailey performing in plays in New York. Brandon a popular movie star in love with Bailey. Cody, a winning coach, also with feelings for Bailey. Each book in this series is packed with emotions, Longing is no exception. I continue to ask the question, "How does Karen write with such depth?" When I find the answer to that question my own writing will improve greatly. I loved the plot, but the characters made the story. They were people I've grown to love over the years, having read the other Baxter books. Listening to this book, made it more real. The way each character worked through their conflicts took the read deeper. Sometimes it came through a miracle, other times a divine appointment, yet other times through wise counsel. Whatever the way it was great. Emotional and life-changing, two words that describe this book.

This is the first I have read of this series and only one word comes to mind - WOW. The author has a way of drawing one into the story as if a friends are relating things happening in their lives. I believe this book has a lot to offer regardless of age of level of faith. I can't wait to read Loving as I am sure Brandon will really be tested. I love that the author has given all the credit to God. I have to admit even though I am a Christian and decades older than those portrayed in this book, I found myself using several tissues in different chapters.
