When my daughter started fourth grade, it was Addison's fourth school in five years. It wasn't how we planned it, but as someone who moved around a lot as a kid, I knew this school year was going to be tough. Every morning, I wrote my daughter a note about life, school, or growing up, and I'd slip it in her bookbag or her lunch box to find later in the day. I shared the notes on Twitter and Facebook using #DadLunchNotes. Before I knew it, the notes became something others were seeking each day, including Addison's teacher and principal. While I knew others enjoyed the daily life lessons I penned in Sharpie, I wanted to stay true to my intended purpose-being there for my daughter and helping guide her through this difficult school year.

Reviewed by Mamta Madhavan for Readers' Favorite Lucky Enough: A Year of a Dad's Daily Notes of Encouragement and Life Lessons to his Daughter by Chris Yandle is a wonderful collection of messages the author wrote to his daughter, Addison, during her fourth grade school year. The daily notes and messages the author shared with his daughter about life, school, and growing up became quite popular and can be looked at as a wonderful tool parents can use when it comes to speaking to their children. Every note written by the author comes from his heart and will resonate with parents and readers. These will encourage parents to guide their children to handle their days with positive affirmations that will enable them to always look at the brighter side of life. This book will bring cheer and happiness, and might also be a good way to know and understand your child better. The idea of coming up with a book like this is fantastic and I like the thought of adding parent writing prompts, kids' writing prompts, and note pages at the end of the book. These make the book interactive and it's a good way not only for parents and children to know each other better but also to enhance their creativity. Writing down thoughts and messages is cathartic and readers can actually start doing their bit and make their lives positive and refreshing. The explanation of the messages makes it easy for readers to comprehend the messages and gives a broader perspective to what the author means.
