This is a great book that shows how people can twist the Bible to their own means answer harm others. It is also a great story of the freedom and redemption of God that is available to all.

Sisters by Design is a story about Mac, who leaves an occult with her son to start a new life. Mac is understandably opposed to religion, but is quickly befriended by a group of Christians who believe women are just as valuable in God's eyes as men. Read her and her son's journey of adjusting to a life different than one they've ever known. The adjustments Mac and Riley (her son) make are not easy, but the reading is, because Ms. Shrock proves to be a very good author. Even though Mac and Riley are dealing with some heavy stuff, the Ms. Shrock presents it in a way that still makes this a good light read. I got this e-book free on my Nook and enjoyed it so much I bought the next two in the series.

GJRA. I stayed up most of the night to finish this 151 page book. I cried a lot at this sad story. I think the ending was rushed and didn't care that much for the ending, left me hanging. It really was a good read, hard to put down, but the ending messed it up for me, reason for 3 stars. GJRA

The main character, Mac, leaves a very strict, controlling cult and moves away with her son to start a new life after her husband dies. She moves to a small town and meets four ladies who help her learn that God is not an angry God looking for any opportunity to punish His people, but is a loving Father. The way Mac's four friends ministered to her also ministered to me as I have a background that is just as abusive as hers. The book is well written but is weak in one area. The relationship between Mac and Dane is based on only a handful of superficial interactions. Their caring for each other doesn't seem to be based on knowing each other. It's like it was squeezed in quickly at the end of the book. Even so, I enjoyed this book and author.
