This was a good old fashion mystery along the lines of Ms. Marple. A good read..

A delightful new mystery series from the talented Emma Jameson set in a small Cornish village. Dr. Ben Bones is a likable character and his interactions with Lady Juliet are entertaining. Their differences, as well as their intelligent repartee, propel the story forward. The village's other colorful characters only serve to enhance the story. I'm looking forward to "Divorce Can Be Deadly," the second book.

Highly recommended! Loved this new series. I like books in a series and will be buying future ones. Have already read the second in the series, Divorce Can Be Deadly. This new series features engaging characters and an interesting time in history. Although I like my entertainment with dead bodies, I did not closely follow the mystery in this one. Just got the know the cast of characters. This book is light and amusing. It held my interest and I could not wait to get the next in the series. Hopefully Emma Jameson is hard at work on the third entry.

I was gifted a copy of 'Marriage can be Murder' by Emma Jameson, in exchange for an honest review. I started reading 'Marriage can be Murder' unsure with what I'll be getting, as this was my first book from Emma Jameson. I couldn't put the book down, wanting... NEEDING to know.... This story was filled with suspense, leaving me guessing until the very end... There were times when I thought I'd figured out the WHO & WHY, but boy was I wrong, I never would have guessed even with all the details given throughout. Thank you Emma, for a captivating mystery, filled with twists, turns, a true Sherlock Holmes style book. The lead characters were fun to read, fumbling as they did, trying to solve the mystery & oddly complimenting one-another. I look forward to reading the next book in the "Dr. Benjamin Bones Mysteries".

Started off very well. However, love her Lord and Lady Letheredge series much better. Much tighter writing.

This book should have been an easy 5 Stars but earns at best only 3 for the absolute stupidity of the writer. I own every book Emma Jameson has written and they are for the most part good. But she has a habit of either not staying on point or in the case of this book she introduces an deus ex machina ( Literally !) In the middle of the book that not only was not needed but gives forth the most absurd and convoluted sequence of events that take away from the body of the novel. Good writing gone bad that thankfully is rescued 50 pages later. She is new and young and I believe she will become a great writer someday. Just not sure when that will be.

Another wonderful book by Emma Jameson, author of the Lord and Lady Hetheridge series. This series is set in Cornwall during World War II. Cornwall is on the Southwestern end of England and is therefore a perfect place for smuggling, sending information to the enemy, and being in a short distance for German guns. The characters are well written and the dialogue is once again spot-on. The history and events are based on true ones and the story makes even more clear the confusion and fear during wartime for England. I can hardly wait for book 2 to come out and I highly recommend this series to all readers - cozy mysteries, historical mysteries, and just well-written novels!
