Sweet second chance love story!
ReadYourWrites More than 1 year ago
A nice second chance love story. Neil Healy wanted to join the Air Force and follow in his deceased father’s footsteps by serving his country. Becky Westmore, his long time girlfriend, couldn’t stand by his decision to risk his life. Thus, she broke up with him and broke both their hearts in the process. Now, twelve years has passed and the two are about to be brought back together by a Christmas wedding. Maybe This Kiss is a closed door, second chance romance. I liked that while twelve years has passed and they haven’t seen each other during that time, Neil and Becky still feel something for each other. I immediately liked Neil, but it took me awhile to like Becky. While I understand not wanting to be worried about a significant other all the time, I didn’t understand how she ended up married to a police officer. I felt that part of the story was missing. I loved watching Neil interact with Becky’s eight-year-old daughter and watching him reevaluate his life. At the same time, I liked watching Becky finally let go of the past and choose to actually live her life. Maybe This Kiss is the set up for the rest of the Colorado Ice series, and you get a nice look at the Westmore brothers. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in store for them all. **Received a copy from Forever Yours and reviewed the book voluntarily.**

A sweet holiday second-chance romance! This was actually the second book I read in this series; I met Becky in book 2 and liked her so much I HAD to read her story in this book! Becky is one of my favorite characters. She's so sassy and funny, and her occasional potty mouth only makes her more realistic. Neil was adorable, and I loved how he refused to let Becky go without a fight. I am SO happy there are 2 more brothers to be written about, because it's DEFINITELY a good, sweet, steamy, solid contemporary romance series!

Maybe This Kiss is book one in the brand new series, Colorado Ice, by Jennifer Snow. I have read both books one and two of this series and I have to say that I’m in love with it. This hockey loving family has won my heart. “Every love was a leap of faith.” Becky Westmore has been a widow for four years, her husband a police officer. She is raising a nine year old daughter on her own. But her husband wasn’t her first love. Her first was her childhood sweetheart, Neil Healy. They dated all through middle and high school. Neil enlisted with dreams of traveling and seeing the world with Becky at his side. But Becky knew that Neil was going to be deployed soon after basic training. Could she leave everything she knew in her home town of Glenwood Falls, Colorado, to be alone on a base where she knew no one while Neil was overseas? So, she ended things. Neil hasn’t seen Becky in twelve years. He was offered a promotion to Lieutenant Colonel if he moved back home to Glenwood Falls. He has managed to avoid seeing Becky so far but he knows that he will have to face her sooner or later. At their first meeting, though, it all comes rushing back. Even with the years that have passed, the woman he loved is still there and his feelings, although pushed back for all this time, come rushing back. Becky has the same reaction the first time she sees Neil. But she still feels strongly that she doesn’t want to give her heart to a military man who will always have the possibility of being deployed for long periods of time. Her daughter lost her father. Can she risk that her daughter could lose another father? “Too much time had passed, too much life had happened for both of them - she couldn’t claim to know the man he was now. Yet, her heart insisted it did.” I want to mention here that you will fall hopelessly in love with Becky’s daughter, Taylor. She is adorable. Becky has three hockey playing brothers, two of which are professional. So Taylor was raised practically on skates. Hockey is what she lives for. She and Neil form a strong bond. She is also in book two quite a bit. Becky fights her feelings but Neil doesn’t give up. Their feelings are just too strong to ignore and they can‘t lose this second chance at love. But Neil knows he will soon be deployed after the New Year. Is their love strong enough this time to withstand the separation? His heart was broken the first time he lost her. If he loses her again, he won’t survive it. This is a perfect introduction into the hockey loving Westmore family. I have fallen in love with them. Book two, Maybe This Time, will be Jackson and Abby’s story. I can’t wait until you meet the Westmores. I hope you love them as much as I do.

the colorado ice series about the westmore family kicks off with maybe this kiss. this is a second-chance at love type story, which isn't always my favorite romance trope. neil healy has loved becky westmore since they were kids. he had hoped to marry her before he got his first overseas deployment, but she didn't want to be a military wife. when she ends up as a cop's wife, widowed when a rescue mission goes wrong, her reluctance to be with someone with a risky career seems justified. but when neil comes back to glenwood falls after twelve years away, he finds that he can't keep away from becky. she's been the woman in his heart his whole life, and even though the reasons they broke up are still the same obstacles they face now. neil knows he wants a life with becky, the story is more about becky deciding between a life without love, without neil or a life with neil that is colored by risk. in the end there is no choice right? how could you choose a life without love? it's better to spend whatever time you can with the ones you love rather than spending a life alone. risking heartbreak is terrifying, but even if you never take a chance on the relationship you're still heartbroken, and full of regret. so obviously in the end, neil and becky work things out. **maybe this kiss will publish on november 1, 2016. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/forever (grand central publishing) in exchange for my honest review.

Maybe This Kiss by Jennifer Snow.....I am so excited for this great series, I could not put this book down. The story is sweet and it flows so nicely. I love the characters Neil and Becky they have a past together, they still have attraction and love for each other. Will these two be able to make a second chance work, you will have to read to find out. I highly recommend this book.

In a sweet kick-off to her new Colorado Ice series, Jennifer Snow brings us a short story about finding love again after loss ... with the one that got away years ago! I loved the characters, and my favorite "awww" moments were his interactions with her daughter ... so sweet! Great set up to the series! Can't wait to read more of the Westmores! Becky Westmore is simply trying to get through the crazy hectic month of December without falling apart at the seams when she finally runs into the person she's been avoiding since he got back into town a month ago ... her ex-boyfriend from all those years ago. Neil Healy was happy to receive his promotion to Lieutenant with the Air Force, but he wasn't so happy that it brought him back to his hometown of Glenwood, Colorado after being gone for so many years. He didn't like how things ended back in the day, and being back in this town again brings all of those memories back full force. When they finally cross paths, the old flame is still burning strong. Neither of them wants to feel the things they are feeling, but it's there regardless. Will they find the courage to try again?
