About the Author

A.M. Arthur was born and raised in the same kind of small town she likes to write about, a stone's throw from both the ocean and generational farmland. She's been writing stories in her head since she was a child and scribbling them down nearly as long. When not exorcising the voices in her head, A.M. can be found in the kitchen experimenting with food and trying not to poison herself or others.

The front cover reveals the fact that this is a m/m romance story, yet delve underneath its surface and Maybe This Time has a depth and emotional quality that other m/m novels lack. Maybe This time not only examines the relationship between Donner and Ezra, but their relationships with their past loves, families, friends and even a pet! A M Arthur nurtures the emotions of the characters perfectly and because Donner and Ezra are so likeable, but by no means perfect, we are pulled along with them, sharing their pain and happiness. This is the first New Adult m/m romance I have read and I was interested to see how A M Arthur would approach the intimate scenes between the couple. She does this with sensitivity, especially given reservations, but does not try to disguise that it is an intense sexual experience between two men, using specific language and terms. Yet it is also important that as a reader we never feel that this sex is a voyeuristic act for either men, instead A M Arthur is able to communicate these scenes as an extension of their growing feelings for one another. Donner is probably the more comfortable with his sexuality than Ezra, but this is purely because of Ezra's past and the conditioning he endured because of his parents non-acceptance. Both characters have experienced loss and we see them trying to comfort each other and also encouraging their partner to achieve their goals; Donner with Streetfeed and Ezra with his business plan. Theirs is a story we know we can invest our time and emotions in because together we know they have a serious future. I loved Maybe This Time and was sorry the ending came too soon! This is a book for not only readers of the m/m genre, but fans of NA contemporary romance in general. I now plan to read No Such Thing! I received this as a complimentary review copy, but this has had no influence on my opinion.

A well written and developed story, Maybe This Time contains an emotional cast of characters and tackles challenging topics, including homelessness, abuse, discrimination and loss. The emotional impact is intense, the storytelling is believable, and I would recommend this to readers who are looking to be inspired by a story that is more about the journey than the ending. While it can be read as a stand alone novel, it does contain characters from Arthur's previously published work No Such Thing. My OFFICIAL REVIEW written for Carly's Book Reviews. A copy was provided by the publisher via NetGalley for the purpose of review.

A strained relationship with his family leads Ezra to follow a boyfriend clear across the country. After that relationship unexpectedly ends, Ezra finds himself with a broken and wary heart. Donner's life changed forever after his long-time partner is killed. He moves into his sister's basement and works as a bartender at the Pot O' Gold. When an unfortunate incident occurs at the bar, Donner helps Ezra home, and a tentative friendship/love affair develops. Both men keep insisting they are only looking for a good time with either other, and both struggle with their developing feelings. Old friends return and we meet new friends, who you will definitely want to get to know better in the next book. A sexy, emotional book about two great guys who deserve to find love and belonging.
