Mind Game is definitely an action-packed new addition to the Eve Duncan series! I very much enjoyed seeing what these delightful, hard-working characters are up to, even though there is a little more psychic activity than I had remembered. Fans of Eve Duncan, Joe Quinn, and Jane MacGuire will love this, especially in light of some of the surprises for this tight-knit family. I was surprised that Jane has the primary focus, but enjoyed getting to know her better against the gorgeous Scotland setting. Jane has just left Eve and Joe’s lake cottage where she spent time with them and their adorable son, Michael. She returns to Scotland, where she has been working with MacDuff, in an attempt to find an old fortune belonging to Cira. Cira was a young actress from the ancient Herculaneum. She has been dreaming of Cira since she was 17 and has been almost obsessed with helping with the experiment to find lights that can see through the mist. Yes, Lake Gaelkar has a heavy, almost impenetrable mist that the human eye could easily become disoriented in and fall in the lake and drown. Along with dreaming about Cira, Jane is also dreaming about a young woman who she thinks is called Lisa. Her dreams are troubling; the thoughts she reads from Lisa show that she is being held captive. After each dream, she awakens with the compulsion to sketch Jane, and perhaps see what she looks like and where she might be. Then she learns that Lisa is Seth Caleb’s younger sister… Seth is a man Jane met in the past when he was in Gaelkar. The attraction between them has been strong, but for an unknown reason, he has been cool towards her for a while. He saved her baby brother Michael in a unique circumstance a couple years ago with his special powers. One of those powers is “Persuasion”, and he does have a way of getting people to see his point of view. Now, when his sister needs him, she only wants Jane, not Seth, to find her. The other power? I won’t spoil it for you. In all honesty, Eve is still my favorite character, and seeing how far Jane has come from when she and Eve first met is exciting. Seeing her interactions with Lisa shows her very soft side for those who she lets past her barriers. The characters are well-rounded; each continues to grow and show more of themselves to the readers. That might sound strange for #22 in the series, but Eve and Jane have kept their hearts guarded well. This novel is very well planned, written, and executed. The plot is filled with twists and turns that must be considered as they try to rescue Lisa, and it is very possible that doing so has put a bulls-eye squarely on Jane. A cruel, calculating mind is behind Lisa’s abduction, a mind that will go to any length to cover up committed crimes. There are some very exciting surprises for Jane and her family this time, changes that bring joy. There are definitely surprises in store for all of them; while I guessed who the real bad guy/ gal is, the location and motive are unknown. I highly recommend Mind Game to fans of Eve Duncan, and those who enjoy mysteries with paranormal aspects – and applaud the author for continuing to bring a fresh, new adventure in each novel. From a grateful heart: I was given this ARC book by the publisher through a Goodreads giveaway and here is my honest review.

Mind Game By Iris Johansen In Iris Johansen’s latest novel, Mind Game, Jane MacGuire, Eve Duncan’s adopted daughter is back along with a stellar cast of other characters. Jane is being plagued by a dream of a young lady who is apparently in trouble. The dreams are reminiscent of the ones she had when she was younger of Cira, the actress who lived centuries before. Only this time, the young lady is in trouble now and seems to be able to reach Jane because of Jane’s connection with Seth Caleb, the enigma who can control the flow of blood in the people near him. When Seth and Jane attempt a rescue, what will happen? And why do they have the young lady anyhow? I enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and had some mystery, some intrigue, and some romance. The only problem I seem to find with Johansen’s books is that all of her female characters seem to possess the same strengths and ideas (even though they may have different abilities). I am all for strong females, but we are not all alike. I would love to see a character with a different attitude or way of looking at life than her normal female character. That being said, it was nice in this book to see Eve, Margaret, Joe, MacDuff, and the others who have become part of Eve’s family. It was also interesting to see the dreams of Cira finally come to have a solid meaning for Jane. I would recommend this book to anyone who like’s Johansen’s books or anyone who just may be ready for something new. You don’t have to have read the others that came before it to understand what is going on, although it does help for background information. I received a free copy of this book for my honest review from NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.

3.5 STARS I am an Iris Johansen fan. The Eve Duncan series has become one of my must-read series. It is nice that this is a series that you can start at anytime, with any book, and get an entire story within one book. The characters are familiar from book to book but each story has a finished ending. There is a bonus of reading the books in order since it gives you the extra history of the characters and a little more understanding of their relationships. The story of Seth and Jane is one that I have been waiting for. The sizzling heat between them was undeniable and I knew it would eventually push them together. I liked that they worked for it; they circled each other, pushed each other, and made sure the time was right before they took their friendship any farther. Mind Game is not my favorite but I found myself looking forward to picking it up and reading, whether it was a few pages or a few chapters. If you are an Eve Duncan fan I definitely recommend picking up your own copy.

With the latest in the Eve Duncan series, we move forward with Jane playing the biggest part as the lead heroine this time, but we still see plenty of Eve, Joe and other characters we've come to know and love during the series. It's an interesting spin on the story and we have a couple of different plot twists going off simultaneously throughout the book. There were parts that drug a little bit, but overall, it kept my attention and gave us a thrilling excursion into their world! Jane MacGuire is drawn back to Scotland to continue the search for the lost treasure she's been involved with for a few years now, but amidst that drama, she's having dreams about a young woman who she thinks is in danger. She's running herself ragged trying to figure out why this girl has reached out to her and how in the world she can help her when Seth Caleb steps back into her life. The attraction she feels for him mixed with the conflicting relationship they share always sets her off balance. This time it's him in need of help ... and Jane will do anything in her power to help him like he has helped her family in the past!

I have always enjoyed the Eve Duncan books, but I think enough is enough. This story tied up a lot of loose ends and brought together many of the characters we met along the way, so perhaps this is the last one in the series. Once again the extra-sensory powers of mind melding, controlling a person's blood and dreams sending messages play into the story. We meet Michael, Eve's and Joe's young son, who seems to be super intelligent and have "a way" about him to calm and learn things quickly. He is two but seems to have a vocabulary of one much older. We end up back in Scotland for part of the story as well as in Dubai, where the evil foster mother of Seth Caleb's sisters hatches her plot that involved Jane. It was okay and I did finish it, but it was not one that I devoured like others in the series. Based on the reviews, there are many that are die-hard Johansen fans and loved it, so I would recommend it to those readers. If you have not read others in this series, this would not be the one to start with. The publisher provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of Mind Game by Iris Johansen that I read and reviewed. This was and excellent addition to the Eve Duncan series even though this book focuses around Jane MacGuire, Eve and Joe's adopted daughter. In the book Jane is having dreams about a girl who is in trouble who she calls Lisa and who she learns is the sister of Seth Caleb who she has had a complicated relationship with in the past and who her family feel they owe for saving Eve and her young son. As Caleb and Jane race to save Lisa they find out there is more behind her abduction then meets the eye and Jane starts to learn more about Caleb and their relationship gets a lot more complicated. Also, Eve and Joe decide to take their relationship to a whole to level to the surprise and joy of their family and friends. Mind Game has another chapter in the life of Eve Duncan and her family and friends. It is full of suspense and also romance and also more updates on a family that fans if Johansen feels like they are a part of. I Mind Game gets five out of five stars.

Mind Game by Iris Johansen is a fantastic read. Ms Johansen has delivered a well-written book. I'm a fan of Irish Johansen of long standing, but I admit I got burned out on Eve Duncan and stopped reading this series about 13 books into it. Reading this book reminded me of how much I enjoy this author's writing style and I think now I'm ready to go back and pick up where I left off. The characters in this book are fantastic. Jane and Seth's story is loaded with suspense, nuggets of humor, a little supernatural woo-woo, drama and just a bit of spice. I enjoyed reading Mind Game and look forward to catching up on this series. Mind Game is book 22 of the Eve Duncan Series but can be read as a standalone. This is not a cliff-hanger. I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this book that I won from Goodreads.

Thrilling paranormal suspense… This is the twenty-second book in the Eve Duncan series. Incredibly vivid dreams have plagued the artist Jane MacGuire for years but they’ve always been about Cira, a woman who lived in the distant past, the one who hid a treasure the Scottish laird John MacDuff that Jane assists seeks relentlessly. Now Jane has dreams of a young woman who seems awfully familiar in appearance yet she can’t place, a woman she feels is alive, in serious danger and reaching out to her for help. Drawing detailed sketches after each of the dreams Jane uses her intellect and connections to try and locate the woman. But it’s when the intense Seth Caleb returns to her life that some things are made clear: the mysterious woman’s identity is revealed and the danger she is in is made credible. With her inner senses telling Jane that she’s somehow been chosen to help the young woman she has this psychic connection with Jane joins up with Caleb subjecting herself to the steamy awkwardness that always exists between them. Can they find her in time? Can Jane keep balanced Seth’s darkness? This was great suspense with a decidedly paranormal touch. While part of the Eve Duncan series this story is predominantly Jane centric. The reading is enhanced if you’ve kept up with the series though enough information was disseminated to somewhat comprehend the referenced past happenings. The dynamics between Jane and Seth were fascinating. They were palpably drawn to each other, their acute witty often sarcastic dialogue was riddled with sexual tension but she is lightness while he is darkness. Seth has been influenced by Jane in the past. Can she keep him grounded with what is now at stake? This series has captivating storylines and the most intriguing complex characters, some with prodigy level talents; others with paranormal abilities. They are bound to each other as a family of choice and they’ll do anything to protect those they call family, they’ll be there for each other when a special celebration happens. Threads previously woven came together beautifully in this book in a most spectacularly satisfying conclusion. An advanced reading copy was obtained from the publisher via NetGalley. 4.5 stars

Thank you to Net-Galley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read and review. No form of payment was received. I loved this book. Even though it states this is an Eve Duncan book, there wasn't much of Eve in the book. Its more of Jane and Caleb. I was so glad to get more of these two characters as they are some of my favorites. We also get a little bit of other characters from the Eve books. The chemistry between Jane and Caleb is still off the charts, they are going to explode at some point. I have been cheering them on to eventually find their happy place together. Will it be in this story? Read to find out! Jane is having dreams of a young woman that is needing help. She has to find out who she is and why she is contacting her. This story has some twists and turns. It has drama, action and everything else readers come to expect from this author I can't wait for more books with Jane and Caleb. One click this on release day, it is worth it!

I loved it! I have been waiting for this story to come together and as usual Iris Johansen has done it in a spectacular manner. I have read all of her books, including the books written with her son. They don’t come out fast enough. I never fail to get lost in the story, they make me want to be part of the action.
