I found this eBook a quick read and an accessible "go to" for the beginner ready to learn about mindful meditation, and a handy source for those already versed and experienced with a meditation practice. Considerable time is spent on the benefits experienced with meditation and despite its origin that the ancient practice of meditation itself is not religious based. A step-by-step approach and advice on beginning a meditation practice is helpful, along with journal suggestions, and remains throughout the book as advanced meditations are presented. Even the advanced meditations seem attainable as the body and breath without judgment remains the foundation. From a simple breath meditation, to body scans, the book points out that we are in relationship with ourselves as well as with others, for instance with "Gratitude" exercises and the "Loving Kindness Meditation." Through mindfulness and meditation we can learn about ourselves objectively, and therefore be healthier physically, mentally, and emotionally and in our relationships. All which should spill over into our everyday lives. In fact it's discussed that studies have indicated and are continuing to show a multitude of health and emotional benefits from meditation. I found it especially interesting that the studies on one's physical pain can be lessened by meditating, and separating one's emotions from the experience. All in all a useful tool and reference in an eBook, as it's a portable lesson guide that one can use to continue to learn and develop.

This book is a quick read that is useful for beginners being introduced to meditation. It offers some background behind meditation and how it helps with daily everyday stressfulness of life. This book is great about breaking down steps for beginners coming to meditation for the first time and gives step by step instructions that are not too convoluted to follow.

This great initiative will encourage the newbie to implement a successful meditation practice.  Detailed assurances offer insight into easing the mind for engaging into a new art form without fear.  Though a bit repetitive, this again offers helpful instruction in urging those less familiar with this amazing stress relieving activity. Mindfulness and meditation are not widely discussed concepts. Put it together and that’s the premise of this book. This mindful meditation is about distancing yourself from your thoughts as opposed to wiping them out completely. If your life is full of stress and packed to the point that you can’t think, this book will help bring some control to your life by helping you let go. There are different practices in here so you can advance your meditation skills. With some practice, you can easily incorporate mindfulness and meditation into your everyday life.

You have to read this book if you are looking for easy to follow methods for relaxing.  This book has done wonders for my stress levels and I feel a thousand times better because of it.  If you are looking for an easy way to relax and unwind pick this book up.

I rather enjoyed this book. It teaches you all about the benefits of meditation and how to meditate to improve your quality of life. It jumps right into meditation, then takes you on a journey of the mind to a deeper understanding. It is easy to follow for a beginner or an advanced person of meditation.

Mindfulness Made Simple is a discussion about “stopping to smell the roses” and pay attention during your life. There are a few guidelines to help you along the way such as excercises, tips, and journal keeping to help you become more mindful. Mindfulness is believed to help some health issues such as stress, pain, depression, sleep, and lack of focus and each topic is discussed in the book. The rest of the book gives detailed instruction on how to be more mindful and meditate to achieve your goals and become healthier and more enlightened.

A HUGE help! Excellent READ! I suffer greatly from anxiety and i am always trying to find ways relieve stress and calm myself at the end of the day. This book gave me a better understanding about how to control my emotions and to communicate effectively which in turn will bring calm and help relieve some of my day to day stress or avoid it all together.

I deal with a lot of stress with working two jobs and balancing family and activities. I worry a lot which causes me unnecessary anxiety. Mindfulness Made Simple was very helpful in teaching relaxation methods in addition to self awareness which caused me to be able to control my own behavior and decrease the levels of stress I was experiencing. I found the tips, exercises and journal prompts very helpful and was able to apply the easily to my life. - Sarah M

Mindfulness as Practical Stress Management: After little more than two weeks of following the recommendations and practices outlined in this book, I feel much more calm and centered in my daily life. Mindfulness is too often overlooked or dismissed as perhaps a "nice" concept, but one with questionable or negligible results - don't make that same mistake. I found the discussion in Chapter 6 regarding mindfulness in everyday life to be especially insightful and practical. This is a great book for those who are seeking tools to better deal with everyday stress.

This introductory book walks the reader through the concept of mindfulness, understanding its benefits and practices, taking the reader through her first mediation, and then leaving her with instructions for further and deeper types and styles of meditation and mindfulness. And since it’s loaded with lots of advice for further reading and practice, it’s also well-suited for folks looking to taking their next mindful steps. -- papajbear

I thought this book was a good introduction to the practice of mindfulness.  I appreciated the way it gave some of the background and history as well as several good reasons for practicing mindfulness.  The exercises seemed clear and easy for a novice like me to follow.  I also liked the way it didn’t make you feel guilty or stressed about doing it “wrong”.

I heard about mindfulness from a friend and wanted to try it. I enjoy yoga and thought I would like mindfulness. Book has great suggestions- I started using the journal ideas and it has reallyy  improved my meditation.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for an easy to follow tutorial on how to learn the mindfulness method. I learned a lot from this book about letting go of negative thinking and focusing on sleep: 2 areas I really wanted to work on.

Mindfulness Made Simple uses easy to follow techniques to help focus on breathing and meditation. Stress can be alleviated and guidance is given for living a life on purpose. With some practice, calm and inner peace is possible.

I read a few chapters of Mindfulness Made Simple and I did learn a bit from it. I like the section titled Mindfulness at Night Meditation. After practicing the techniques for two nights, I felt my mind a bit more at ease the following day. I was able to think clearly and not fixated on the previous day’s events.

Mindfulness is the opposite of multitasking. It’s being in the moment, it’s noticing the world around us, and it’s celebrating our reactions for what they are. It doesn’t require a desire to change or be more appreciative of life — just a willingness to pay attention.

We all have stress and anxiey in our busy lives and this book provides a concept on dealing with this by directing ourselves to the present through attention and acceptance of the moment.  This simple concept is based on the idea that we can keep our minds open to situations as they approach without reacting with our judgements.  The ability to try this meditation would allow us to be less stressed and anxiety ridden.  The book provides exercises and practices to increase our skills in this meditation.  There are practices for everyday life as well as it addresses specific situations.  The book also provides additional information for expanding the meditation as we becoming practicing this process.

This truly is a great entry level book for anyone who needs help with anxiety and wants more calmness in their life. Simple step by step meditations that didn't take hours were a welcome addition at the end of the book!

How long have you been meditating, or are you new to meditation?  I strongly suggest that you read this book because it really helped me learn what mindfulness was and that I could so much more in my meditation that I have been doing for years.  I loved Chapter 5 that gave me more meditations.

This book really taught me to take risks without fear of judgement or consequences. There are simple details equipped with step by step guidelines on how to solve everyday problems in the most calm and efficient ways. The amount of stress eliminated from my every day life is a result of the advice given in the book. I have a clearer insight on why things occur and how to go about them in a mind easing manner. I enjoyed it very much and am excited to use these new techniques in my life.
