About the Author

John Kloepfer is the author of the popular Monsters Unleashed and Zombie Chasers series, as well as the out-of-this-world alien trilogy Galaxy’s Most Wanted. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Jenny, and their dog, Doozy.

Mark Oliver likes being an illustrator because he gets to paint, draw, and use his creative genius in many different ways using a computer. Sometimes he does it so well, he wins awards for it (the Stockport Children’s Book Award in 2006 and 2011, among others). Mark’s very clever, but he never brags about how clever he is, just in case people ask him tricky questions about zombies, string theory, or moral relativism. Visit him at www.olly.net.

Time for Freddie, his four friends, and the pet monsters tamed by each in the previous episode to spring into action. The ensuing gorefest rolls on amid near-continual stomping, indiscriminate spraying, and bursts of flame ("Pop! Pop! Pop! Freddie could hear their guts exploding and bursting into the air," etc.) to a final desperate stand featuring, in deference to monster-movie tradition, a gigantic kaiju. Along with heroic exploits galore, Kloepfer folds in bits of science and further bonding in the physically and racially diverse cast (Freddie himself is white), Trevor is welcomed into the circle and everyone gets back home in time to throw Freddie's Latinx best bud, Manny Vasquez, an impromptu birthday party.
