About the Author

Roy Gift is a well-known computer software designer in Europe. He was raised in Raleigh, NC, where is novel is set. He has three sons and three grandchildren. Since some of his family lives in France, Gift settled near Paris a few years ago. He says software designing and writing novels are not all that different--both involve imagination, risk-taking, and attention to detail. His war story was drawn from his own time in the army and the stories told by his older brother, who served in the jungles of Guadalcanal.
