Moonlight on the Millpond by Lori Wick

This first book in the Tucker Mills Trilogy from beloved author Lori Wick follows Jace Randall as he leaves his childhood home to help his Uncle Woody Randall run the saw mill in Token Creek. Jace diligently focuses on work until he meets the visiting niece of local storekeepers. Jace pursues her until she finally agrees to attend a picnic with him and take a chance.

But before the relationship has a strong foundation, the couple separates because of gossip fueled by Jace’s sister. Later, when she admits her wrongdoing and shares her testimony of a new faith, the couple must decide whether to try again. Will the sister’s example of faith and transformation be enough to restore broken dreams?

I normally love all of Lori Wick's books, and reread them often. However I was incredibly disappointed with this book and honestly wished I had not purchased it. The female main character drinks alcohol twice, blacks out both times and doesn't remember what happened afterwards. The sad thing is that the second time this happens, both main characters get married and she wakes up in the morning incredibly upset as she didn't remember her actions from the night before. I believe Lori Wick's purpose was to view a couple's journey to God over a longer period of time (over a 1-3 book period) but the result was incredibly disappointing. I would highly recommend all of her books outside of this current series. I know that the second book is due out in a manner of months, and I am not planning on purchasing or reading it. I am looking forward to her next series and hope that she goes back to how she wrote plots before.

Not sure what has happened to the author, but her books have slipped, not only in story line, but also in morality. Couldn't even finish this book.

Having been the very first book of Lori Wick's that I read, I was skeptical. I ended up falling in love with this author and I have already read 6 of her books. This was an incredible story of hurt, passion, anger, truth, and love. I recommend getting this book on a weekend because you will be guaranteed to read it all night.

Moonlight on the Millpond was one of the best books I have ever read! It has deception, romance, and family.

I was very disappointed in this book. It drug out way too long and the characters kept searching for the truth, but never learned it. If I had been an unsaved person reading, I would have been extremely frustrated at not getting answers. She needs to go back to her old style, it was so much better and maybe not try to drag the story over several books.

I, too, am a big Lori Wick fan and I have absolutley adored most of her books. This book IS different--you see the long, difficult journey some souls take to find our Lord. Because I know some 'slowpokes' I found it encouraging and just as delightful as her other books.

There is not a single Lori Wick book that I have read no more than five times. I love her books! Each has a soft romance amoung the reality of the era. 'Moonlight on the Millpond', though sincere and touching, is not what I expected form Lori Wick. At times I felt as if it wasn't realistic and believable, but other times I just could not put it down! And while it is not my favorite book by Lori Wick I am still willing to read the next book in this series, because of curiosities she has aroused.
