The phone rings. It is cancer. Life will never be the same. You will never be the same.

You keep moving forward. You go to work. You are a parent, spouse, daughter, and friend. You appear to be the same person, but you are not the same. Now you have cancer. You will always be someone who has/had cancer.

More Than Her Share is my story of where I found hope beyond the moment. It is about what is going on behind the brave face. It is an honest journey through the roller coaster of thoughts and emotions we are tempted to hide from our friends and family.

There is no real success when carrying the heavy things of life. There is only survival. There is one more step. I learned that honesty with myself and others brought more healing than staying silent and seemingly strong.

About the Author

Janelle is a teacher and author. She teaches elementary school and inspires students to be the best versions of themselves. She uses honesty and vulnerability in my writing as I describe how I have overcome cancer, MS, and other difficulties of life.

She understands how life rarely goes as planned and is adept at finding a way through those difficulties. She has lived in southwest Idaho with her husband since 1996. She enjoys spending time with her 2 amazing daughters. She does everything in her power to stay active. She won’t miss an opportunity for some stand-up paddle boarding. Since 2007, her family has been vacationing in Newport, Oregon where she runs on the beach and surfs the waves as long as they aren’t too big and the sharks stay clear.
