Moving Pictures: A novel of early Hollywood by K.L.A. Hyatt

Welcome to Los Angeles, it’s 1916 and the film industry is booming. This once country town has hit the big time, its a rapidly growing metropolis and the seat of all movie-making. Enter Magda Santoya. A runaway to Los Angeles, she explores the big city with her cousin, Dolores, and it isn’t long before the burgeoning film industry beckons, offering the young women a chance to live their own lives, unbeholden to any one else. A lucky break with the Chronicle Film Company leads to opportunity, riches, and stardom. Yet heartbreak and devastation are only a scandal away.

I stumbled across Moving Pictures while searching for Hollywood memorabilia and biographies, and was immediately drawn to the cover art. Upon reading the inviting description,I decided to buy it on a whim. I have to say that it was excellent $8.00 very well spent. The novel is a fun and friendly read that brings you back to Hollywood's heyday, the glamour and the scandal, with an engaging writing style that keeps the e-pages turning! This is the first of what I hope to be many novels by Hyatt, whose career I will be following. I highly recommend Moving Pictures, and am interested in what others have to say about the work.
