About the Author
Tony Rose is an NAACP Image Award Winner for Outstanding Literature and the Publisher and CEO of Phoenix, AZ based, Amber Communications Group, Inc., the nation's largest African-
American Publisher of Self-Help Books and Music Biographies. He was born in Roxbury (Boston) Massachusetts and raised in the Whittier Street Housing Projects. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force after serving in the Vietnam War, and attended the University of Massachusetts, the University of California in Los Angeles and the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston, MA. He was employed as a production assistant at the Burbank Studios (Warner Brothers and Columbia Pictures),in the accounting and sales division at Warner/Electra/Atlantic Records (WEA), an accounts representative at Warren Lanier Public Relations and as an A & R representative at RCA Records, Los Angeles, California. Rose returned to Boston and along with record producer Maurice Starr became the primary architect of that, which in the late 70's and 80's would be called "The Boston Black Music Scene" a movement that ultimately led to the discovery of the international blockbusters Prince Charles and the City Beat Band, The Jonzun Crew, New Edition and New Kids on the Block. In 1979, he formed Solid Platinum Records and Productions. In the 80's, Rose held recording

This is a great book for collector's of the history of Parliament -Funkadelic. This writers timeline layout of the bands beginnings thru their many changes that were catalysts to their music stardom is entertaining. The history of my beloved Mothership, Sir Nose, Starchild plus George and Sly only add more fun,
Beautiful, Multifarious Look at Funkmaster George and the P-Funk Crew. I enjoyed this overview of various artists and groups that P-Funk inspired and produced as well as the hits that spawned into now. It is also interesting to learn George's outlook on music an artists presently on the music charts. A few of my favorite P-Funk Musicians, Icons and contributors have very recently transitioned: Prince, Dr. Bernie Worrell, Garry Shider, Robert "Nut" Johnson, and Walter "Junie" Morrison. Their contributions are also highlighted.
A new take a one of my favorite music artist. I collect all I can about George but I learned new stuff in this book. The visual of the album art and the meaning of P-Funkmusic are explained. The groups continuing influence on now three generations: from Red Hot Chili Peppers to Flying Lotus, De La Soul to Drake, this book is informative and a fun read.
I just received this Book from my son for my birthday, George Clinton & P-Funk is just one of the things we have in common. And fun trip into my past it was for me. In my junior & high school days,I used to sneak out with my Boyz to P-Funk concerts & jam to the music, checkout the girls, party favors & ALL. music was my escape & I followed Uncle Jam religiously. Well, I though the party was over after college. I later got married & had kids who were heavily into rap & hip-hop. And what artist do I hear in my kids music...... George Clinton & P-Funk! What surprised me about this book is that George & the Parliaments started in the mid 50's & broke out with their music in the late sixties. Many facts are in the book to help expand the Funkentelechy of George Clinton fans & newbies. It also sheds light on why the P-Funk are important in music history and right now
