Blaise Runa works at Tyrese's Bar, a popular watering hole. Her boyfriend, Dolfe Honeybun, is a private investigator who occasionally assists the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. While working at the bar, Blaise gets into an argument with an old high school rival, Deirdre Masterson, who claims Blaise tried to steal her boyfriend fifteen years earlier. Deirdre is in the bar to meet Roger White, but can't seem to find him. The police get involved when Roger's body is found in the men's room. It appears that he was poisoned. Roger worked as an Analyst for a testing lab used by many of the local microbreweries. Dolfe has agreed to assist Detective Muldane with the investigation. Early in the investigation, Dolfe and Blaise witness an attempt on Deirdre's life. Who poisoned Roger White? Why was he killed? Who tried to kill Deirdre and why? Can Dolfe, Blaise, and Detective Muldane unravel the twisted mess and discover the killer before more people die? This is a very fast-paced book with plenty of twists and turns to keep you involved. It also makes it difficult to put down. The characters are well developed and realistic with great humor. It sometimes goes a little heavy on the romance, but it does not detract from the mystery or side-track the story in any way. I received a copy of this book from the author, but the review is entirely my own. I am definitely looking forward to more books in this series.
There is nothing like a Sam Cheever, Honeybun, whodunit. This is the start of what I truly expect to be another awesome series. Ms. Cheever’s style shines through in this book. The book is very well written. It’s funny, flirty, sexy and suspenseful and it has characters you can’t help but love and connect with. If you have kept up with the Honeybun Series, you have previously met Dolfe Honeybun, the tall, sexy PI and his fiance, the sexy, flirty Blaise Runa. Blaise works at a local bar. When a dead body is found in the men’s bathroom of the bar she works, Blaise can’t help herself and get involved, well her and Dolfe of course. These two are a hoot as they set out to find out exactly whodunit, even when the danger starts to close in, they stay strong together with their wickedly funny humor and their flirty banter. 2 Thumbs up for this exciting storyline and a book you don’t want to miss. I highly recommend reading Murderous Craft and I am anxiously waiting for book 2 in the Gainfully Employed Mystery Series.
