Overview

Navy SEAL Dad by Metsy Hingle

Lieutenant Commander Pete "Mac" McKenna had returned to New Orleans a wounded hero, after a Navy SEAL mission gone bad had possibly ended his much-loved career. But there was another reason Mac had come to the Big Easy—and her name was Rachel Grant.

Every day Rachel was reminded of her brief and oh-so-hot affair with Mac McKenna. They'd been apart for two years, and yet Mac's mere presence still made her weak in the knees. And although he claimed to want a second chance, Rachel feared he'd eventually ship out again...especially when he knew the secret she harbored!

About the Author

Award-winning, bestselling author Metsy Hingle says writing romance novels seemed a perfect career choice for her since she grew up in one of the world's most romantic cities--New Orleans.

"I'm a true romantic who believes there's nothing more powerful or empowering than the love between a man and a woman. That's why I enjoy writing about people who face life's challenges and triumph with laughter and love."

Dubbed by Romantic Times Magazine as "... destined to be a major voice in series romance," Metsy has gone on to make that prediction a reality, with her books frequently appearing on bestseller lists and garnering awards--among them the RWA's prestigious Golden Heart Award and a W.I.S.H. Award from Romantic Times Magazine.

She has also been nominated twice by Romantic Times for a Reviewers' Choice Award for Best Silhouette Desire--in 1997 for The Kidnapped Bride and in 1999 for Secret Agent Dad. In addition, she is also a 1999 nominee for a Career Achievement Award for Series Love and Laughter.

Known for creating powerful and passionate stories, Metsy's own life reads like the plot of a romance novel--from her early years in an orphanage and foster care to her long, happy marriage to her husband Jim and the rearing of their four children. Her books are always among readers' favorites, and with good reason, claims New York Times bestselling author Sandra Brown who says, "Metsy Hingle delivers hot sex, humor, and heart... everything a reader could wish for!"

As much as Metsy loves being an author, it's her role as wife and mother that she holds most dear. Since turning in her business suits and fast-paced life in the hotel and public relations arena to pursue writing full-time, she admits to sneaking away to spend time in her rose garden or to slipping into the kitchen to cook up Creole dishes for her ever-expanding family--both the two-legged and four-legged variety.

Metsy resides across the lake from her native New Orleans with her husband Jim, two bossy toy poodles, a tortoiseshell cat and a 16-pound black cat. According to Metsy one of the greatest joys of being an author is hearing from readers. She would love to hear from you.

Two years ago Mac, a Navy SEAL, took Rachel¿s virginity and they spent four weeks together. Then Mac dumped her and never looked back. It¿s hard to believe a Navy SEAL would be so irresponsible and not realize birth control doesn¿t always work. He knew he had devastated Rachel but cared so little that he didn¿t bother to try to contact her to see if she was OK. If he had, he would have known about PJ. When Mac comes back to New Orleans to see a renowned surgeon (not to see Rachel) he looks her up while he¿s there. Since he wouldn¿t have come to NOLA except for the surgeon, its unlikely Rachel would have ever heard from him again & she is naturally suspicious of his motives. When Mac finds out they have a son he decides they should get married and runs out and buys a ring. He is so self involved that he feels she¿ll jump at the chance to marry him. This is after he finds out about PJ, not before. Again, if it wasn¿t for PJ it would be unlikely Mac would have wanted to marry Rachel since he didn¿t even want to be with her two years ago. His reasons for getting married are that they care about each other (I care about Global Warming), the sex is good (what happens when the desire is not as frantic) and they have a child. Getting married to provide two parents is one of the worst possible reasons. Eventually one or both of the parents will become bitter and resentful, perhaps find someone else who they really love, and the child will suffer the most. I liked Rachel, Chloe and PJ. Usually by the end of the book the male lead redeems himself. This was an exception. Mac had no valid reason for what he¿d done and he treated Rachel with little respect and honor. I liked Rachel, Chloe and PJ. But Mac needed to grow up.
