NIGHT WIND: Half Irish, half Lipan Apache. His father had killed his mother and her people and had sold him, as a ten-year old, into slavery. In the black pits of the silver mines, only the Green-Eyed Boy's hunger for revenge had kept him alive. Now, the warrior Night Wind would take his vengeance.

ORLENA: Proud and untamable as a lioness. The golden-haired beauty had fled the Old World and a forced marriage. But in the savage provinces of the Southwest, she was destined to clash with another man--a half-breed whom her aristocratic blood dictated that she scorn, but a man whom her woman's heart demanded that she love.

Was their passion stronger than the Spanish musket and the Apache scalping knife? Not even the prophetic visions of the wise old Lipan medicine woman She Who Dreams could provide the answer, but the renegade vowed to make Orlena...

About the Author

SHIRL HENKE lives in St. Louis, where she enjoys gardening in her yard and greenhouse, cooking holiday dinners for her family and listening to jazz. In addition to helping brainstorm and research her books, her husband Jim is “lion tamer” for their two wild young tomcats, Pewter and Sooty, geniuses at pillage and destruction.
Shirl has been a RITA finalist twice, and has won three Career Achievement Awards, an Industry Award and three Reviewer’s Choice Awards from Romantic Times.
“I wrote my first twenty-two novels in longhand with a ballpoint pen—it’s hard to get good quills these days,” she says. Dragged into the twenty-first century by her son Matt, a telecommunication specialist, Shirl now uses two of those “devil machines.” Another troglodyte bites the dust. Please visit her at

I love the way Shirl Henke writes her romances shes like no other author I have ever read. I think that this was a great book including th others that went with it: Deep as the rivers, and White Apaches Woman. You need to read this book! I also like the way she writes her Indian romances not many other authors write about Indians. I have read all her books and I love them!

"Night Wind's Woman" is a great book. Of all of her books I have read this is the best . I love how Shirl Henke writes about Indian romances, and is the only good autor that can write a good Indian Romance, at least from what I have read . But you should go to Barnes & Noble or go to your library and check it out because it is worth reading. This book is very detailed and romantic, yet daring and want to keep on reading and you don`t want to put the book down because it is that good!
