First of book is so over the top I could not get past it. The other books in the group may be better but I will not be reading them.

Other books in this series are better (4-5 stars for some), as Tannenbaum hones his writing skills and has better editorial guifance. However, you should read this book first for important background information re. characters, etc. Some elements are over the top and others are very dated. by aj west

Very well written. Characters and story pull you quickly in. Can't wait to read the next in this series.

I read this at the suggestion of a friend who had read the entire Butch Karp series. As recommended, I started with this book, the first in the series, so I could 'meet' the characters and grow along with them. It reminds me of how different things were in the 70's. I've read three of the series and will continue to fit in more along with other favorites.
