I will admit, I was nervous to see what other authors would do in and with the Marketplace and its beloved characters, but I was more than pleased with every single story in this anthology. The thing I love most about books in the Marketplace series - the fact that there are people of many genders (including transgender and, in one of these stories, genderqueer!) in many combinations, and yet not once does it detract from my enjoyment of the stories, including ( and maybe especially) the hot parts. Many of these stories delve into parts of the Marketplace heirarchy only hinted at in the other, "canon" books, like the lives of spotters-in-training and owners learning how to take new property "in hand". This is a wonderfully rich addition to Antinou's delightfully sexy world of owners, slaves, trainers and spotters, and spans the decades from proper Victorian Houses to gutterpunx getting in on in the back of a leather bar to the advent of Fetlif...oh, I mean "Kinkynet". I would suggest reading the "canon" books in this series first - The Marketplace, The Slave, The Trainer, The Academy, and The Reunion - before reading this, so you'll better appreciate the references to characters and events contained within, but honestly, if you want a little taste of what a great series it is, this may be a way to appreciate smaller bites (short stories as opposed to longer novels) you will be able to quickly wrap your head around what The Marketplace is and why it's such a delightfully naughty and intensely erotic series.
