Noah has been living in the states since he left the bad memories of his home town behind him. After his parents were betrayed and taxes defaulted on their castle he no longer has a claim, but still wants to know who would've bought his home he grew up in. When Devon invites and convinces him to come back for a vacation he takes up the opportunity to see how he will be received in the little town and sate his curiosity. Bryce is moving on with her grandmother and mother to an honest to goodness castle after her own little town starts to question why the 3 ladies aren't aging. Moving away from being so close to the witches council was a breath of fresh air for Bryce, especially since they seemed determined to get her to get rid of her mother (a human). When Noah meets Bryce he instantly knows who she is to him, but it's not so simple as saying "you're my mate" and they live happily ever after. Things in the little town are being run down and ignored by the current mayor, the witches council is more determined than anything to use either Bryce's mother or mate against her. This book wasn't a favorite of mine. The way the author wrote the problems with Noah and the town made it seem like he was run out of the town only because his family were behind on taxes and his home was taken away. However, that doesn't explain WHY he would've been run out, or did he just leave because of the bad memories? There was also mentions of the witches council being questioned by other shifter elders because of their "activities" but that went nowhere. Even after it was determined they killed shifters nothing was done.
