Norman Angell and the Futility of War: Peace and the Public Mind

Angell was an unusual combination of the detached scholar and the political activist. He was a pioneer in his systematic approach to the international system. He was particularly concerned about the effects of economic interdependence, the significance of colonies, the value of international organizations, and what he called the public mind, the influence of public opinion on foreign policy.
