Overview

Not Dead Enough (Roy Grace Series #3) by Peter James

On the night Brian Bishop murdered his wife he was 60 miles away, asleep in bed at the time. At least that's the way it looks to Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, who is called in to investigate the kinky slaying of beautiful socialite Katie Bishop. Roy Grace soon starts coming to the conclusion that Bishop has performed the apparently impossible feat of being in two places at once. Has someone stolen his identity or is he simply a very clever liar? As Roy Grace digs deeper behind the façade of the Bishops' outwardly respectable lives, it becomes clear that everything is not at all as it first seemed. Then he digs just a little too far, and suddenly the fragile stability of his own troubled world is facing destruction.

Not sure why B&N doesn't carry this series....it's a must read! Roy Grace is an interting character solving crimes in Britain. James' books are always fraught with a creepy undercurrent of terror. Very well-written with believable characters; I would def recommend these books. You may also engoy: Ruth Rendell, Barabara Vine, Sue Grafton, Minette Walters and Morag Joss.

Too man words and too many directions but it finally came together.

This cop is a shining example of what makes people hate cops. His stupidity and selfish concentration on his personal problems led to a very irresponsible arrest of an innocent and prominent person. And then when it was perfectly obvious even to this stupid git that he was innocent, he left him in jail because it was convenient for him. Major league jerk! It is also very implausible that a mediocre old guy, in both looks and abilities, would attract a supposedly beautiful young woman like Cleo. Typical male fantasy that can only really happen if the man is rich.

Great story and I stayed until the end to find out what happened. Had a hard time though sticking it out. The author seems to like long descriptions of everything including how to do an autopsy which I had to skip over. Way to graphic for me.
