The book does not prove freedom and does not set out to. It demarcates the free act, states the primitive that authorship requires, separates its position from agent-causal and non-causal accounts, keeps authorship local to particular acts, and builds identity across them through the Name. Determinism terminates in a primitive of its own. The resulting symmetry leaves two wagers on the table and asks what follows from taking either one.
