Nuclear Power Nuclear Game

Nuclear Power Nuclear Game is a political thriller plus romance. Zoe and John have a perfect life, with promising careers and marriage plans. But their innocence is soon shattered when the Chinese Communist Party seizes power in 1949. After returning back to China, Zoe finds herself locked in a political cage, indoctrinated, and forced to make nuclear bombs for China. Meanwhile, John maintains his belief in anti-nuclear proliferation and is recruited to the CIA to monitor Pakistan's nuclear program in Islamabad. Over the course of decades of separation and individual struggles in the face of competing ideologies, their loyalty to each other and their faith in love will be tested.

'NUCLEAR POWER NUCLEAR GAME is a smart, taut, action-packed thriller with a strong and clever female protagonist....Huang works historical background into the plot effectively through characterization, realistic settings, and conflicts, both internal and external. ...GAME is a smart, taut, action-packed thriller with a strong and clever female protagonist...' Lisa Butts, Indiereader

'A dark retelling of love during war... I think it was quite clever to have them go through similar events, although miles apart, without knowledge of what was happening with the other. They could only rely on their trust for each other. Not to mention the plot twists that made for a provocative and interesting read...' Martin L. Goodreads

This political romance thriller is a duology. In NUCLEAR POWER NUCLEAR GAME, Zoe and John (two nuclear scientists) mirror a generation born in the 1920s living through WWII and the Cold War. Unfortunately, Zoe is locked in a political cage and becomes a tamed lamb to the CCP.
In the sequel (to be published in 2022), Zoe’s daughter, Little Red (a nuclear safety researcher) and George (an investigative journalist) reflect a new generation born during the Cold War, experiencing the era of Communism’s infiltration into the West. However, Little Red rebels against the Communists’ brainwashing and fights for her freedom.

About the Author

Born and raised in Shanghai, Helen Huang now resides in Melbourne, Australia. Nuclear Power Nuclear Game is her first novel, inspired by my own experience living under the Communist regime and working at a nuclear institute in China.

To be a novelist was her childhood dream. She started writing this book when she was a housewife looking after my four daughters and have continued writing it for sixteen years although she has become busy with my house design and construction business. She hopes to finish a sequel to this novel next year.
