O Salutaris Hostia
This children's book uses the lives of the Saints to illustrate individual lines from St. Thomas Aquinas' hymn Verbum Supernum Prodiens which he wrote in the 13 century for the Feast of Corpus Christi. The last two verses, beginning with the line "O salutaris Hostia", are the most well known today and are often sung during Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament for Eucharistic Adoration. As this hymn is a liturgical text, it must always be sung in Latin for Exposition and Benediction. Because it is important to understand the words we are singing, two English translations have been used in this book in conjunction with the original Latin.
