Before the days of cast concrete and tacky, it was simple: there were testing stones--manhood stones--and if you were up to the challenge, you lifted them. This is the stuff of legends and there is no better team to tackle the lore--and the nitty-gritty--of the world's greatest manhood stones than Steve Jeck and Peter Martin.

About the Author
Steve Jeck always enjoyed sports, but didn’t find his niche until his sophomore year in high school when he picked up the shot put. Two years later, he was the Florida State Champion in both the shot put and discus throw. As an amateur competitor in the Highland Games, Steve was a two-time East Coast Champion. His fascination for strength brought him to Scotland twice, where he hunted down and lifted many of Scotland’s ancient tasting stones. Steve taught Health and Physical Education in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In 2012, he graduated from Knox Theological Seminary, Master of Arts in Christianity and Culture [MACC] and accepted the position of Program Director of MACC at Knox Theological Seminary.
Peter Martin, born in Glasgow, Scotland, descended from a lineage of farmers well-known for their great physical strength, and stonelifting played a major part in his boyhood days. In later years, Peter turned his interests to duplicating many of the strength feats accomplished by famous old-time strongmen. He has lifted many of the great testing stones throughout Scotland at an age where most others would have sought a much less physical pastime. It wasn’t until 1993 that he began writing about his favorite test of pure strength: stonelifting.
