At long last, a bright light is being shown on the life of General Omar Bradley! The protean Jim DeFelice-who writes thrilling commercial fiction (Leopards Kill) as well as superb military history (Rangers at Dieppe) -has written a meticulously researched work with both an attention to detail and military strategy that will thrill military buffs, and a narrative drive which lends it the immediacy of great fiction. Unlike his contemporary, the tireless self-promoter George Patton, Omar Bradley was content to go about his business, which just happened to be that of a brilliant military tactician. Using previously untapped source material, DeFelice reveals that Bradley, not Patton or British General Montgomery, was the most instrumental in devising the strategy that ultimately defeated Adolf Hitler. As with his previous fiction and nonfiction works, DeFelice lays out a fast-moving and entertaining narrative. Omar Bradley: General at War is not just great military history, it's a superior biographical work.
