Overview

On the Street Where You Die (Stanley Bentworth mysteries, #1) by Al Stevens

Stanley Bentworth is not all that tough. Previously a homicide cop, he drank his way out of a job and now runs a one-man private eye agency. When a wealthy financier needs an anonymous blackmailer found in a life and death situation, Stanley seizes the chance to earn a fee.

If he fails, the blackmailer outs his client to the mob, giving the client a one-way ticket to the landfill with Stanley an unwilling passenger on that ride.

He knows he must not fail, no small feat given that Stanley Bentworth is not all that tough.

I got this book for free, didnt think it would be as good as it was. The author drew you into liking the main character right from the start, I also like that the story line kept you interested, yet it didnt have pages and pages of unneeded nonsense that had nothing to do with the actual story line, felt more satisfied reading this book than reading others that are twice as long, bottom line you wont be dissappointed. Will be looking forward to the next ones!

I enjoyed this mystery. I will read more by this author. There is sex and violence, some humor. After I finished this book, I wanted one last glass of bourban and a last cigarette. Unfortunately, I do not imbide in either. This book just made them seem appropiate. For ages 18 and up. Not chick lit. About 250 pages. AD

Great read! Characters are likable and funny. Author has great sense of humor. Pace was great. Never a boring moment. Only one complaint. Too much drinking. Character is great without all the booze. Looking forward to more in series. James Patterson move over!

Several lines made me giggle out loud. Whether it was Bentworth's attempts to be funny or other characters remarks. This books doesn't let you lay it down until you are finished.

My new favorite author. I like to read before I go to sleep and don't want books that are involved and clunky to read. This is it, I will continue to read this author and already bought the 2nd in series.

I read this in about 3 hours, due to interruptions. Something in the style just grabbed me from page one. There is action, suspense and humor packed in it. Well worth buying.

Very styish and has its own character. I strongly advise to those readers who enjoy crime books with humble properties. I enjoyed the book as I enjoyed Lee Chil books.

Really enjoyed the book, full of suspense. Quite a few errors in spelling, etc... but if you look past those it's a really great book.

A great story, but a bit too cheesy. The comedy was forced. Otherwise, thus was a pretty good read.
