Hunters, Shapeshifters and Grandpa’s stories are true? You never know what you will find in Everlasting. Once Haunted, Twice Shy by Mandy M. Roth is the second book in the Happily Everlasting Series. The story take place in Everlasting, Maine a small town along the coast, “where there’s no such thing as normal.” I have to say that this book made me laugh so hard, my husband really thought I was losing it. There are so many great characters in this book and series. I am going try to break it down a bit. Let’s start with Penelope, she is our female lead. Penelope works for an auction house in Chicago. She was born in Everlasting but when her parents pasta away she moved in with her mother’s parents. Penelope has a different sense of fashion. If you watch Criminal Minds, I think these two Penelopes must have met. So, Penelope wears sweaters with puppy dogs and leggings with fire hydrants. I am sure there are others that do that too, even at that age. She also doesn’t like to swear. She likes her current career position. She is sweet and really loves her Grandfather. Then we have Hugh, he is all alpha male. He is a fishing charter captain and he controls his own destiny. Hugh has lived in Everlasting all of his life and doesn’t see any reason to be moving. He has some great friends in town, he seems to be helping the local school charity. Hugh’s biggest downside is he has a very foul mouth. So, foul that one of his best friends bet him that he couldn’t stop swearing for a month. Hugh runs a successful business and is apparently a great carpenter. Curt is one of Hugh’s best friends. Curt is the one who bet Hugh he couldn’t stop swearing. Curt is also runs a local restaurant. Curt is kind of the opposite of Hugh, in that he wears nice clothes and doesn’t swear. He is my favorite character, I hope that he gets his own story. Polly is a local witch, who is on Hugh side of the bet. So, she spiked his coffee with a potion to stop Hugh from swearing. It is the most hilarious thing. Below is a quote from one of Hugh’s outbursts. “How about I shove my sunflower up your whoops-a-daisy?” – Hugh Lupine There are many other laughing out loud moments, and many more characters like Wilbur (Penelope’s grandfather), Sigmund (Hugh’s other best friend), and Petey, who is such a doll. Oh, yes and don’t forget about the Deputies. Oh and did I mention there is a kracken? There are just so many wonderful plot twists, the mystery, a little romance between stubborn people and all the non-cussing going on. I adore Everlasting, Maine. There is a sense of community, it has that small town feel. The more I read about Everlasting the more I want to visit. Doesn’t everyone need a little magic and mystery in their lives? My rating is 5 stars, I highly recommend this book and the series so far. I am starting the third book in the series, Fooled Around and Spelled in Love by Michelle M. Pillow. I really hope it is just as great as the first two. This is a Guest Review for Baroness' Book Trove. OMG! I laughed myself silly. This is the funniest book and a great story too. This is the first Everlasting book I’ve read and I just loved it! Penelope is on her way to Everlasting (Maine) but her GPS tries to tell her that her grandfather’s shop is in the middle of the ocean. Duh! She’s beside a lighthouse and considers asking for directions but she sees a man in boxers and a sports coat at the window and changes her mind and turns around instead. As she’s heading up the road in what she hopes might be the right direction it starts raining really hard and she pulls over so she doesn’t wind up driving into the ocean. As she’s waiting for the rain to abate she sees headlights behind her and realizes they’ve pulled up behind her. Terrified she watches a hood figure get out and approach her window. Turns out it’s a woman, friendly too. She tells Penelope to follow her and she’ll get her to town. Penelope follows the woman, Jolene, to her gas station and goes inside where they share coffee and a chat. As they are talking they hear a knock who turns out to be Deputy March. The deputy says he’s investigating two murders. When he finds out Penelope is new in town and her grandfather is Wilbur he tries to arrest her on suspicion. Jolene intervenes and refuses to let him. This is the beginning of the funniest mystery/romance story I’ve ever read. Seriously you will laugh till you cry, especially when you get to the part about Hugh’s spell that’s makes his foul language turn into threats like he’s going to stuff his sunflower up somebody’s watermelon. Or something to that effect. Too funny and really cute. If you’re looking for bloody violence in your murder mysteries, don’t stop here! Great book!! I loved it! Too many exclamation points? You won’t think so once you’ve read it. Truly.

This is the second book in Everlasting, Maine, and I am in love with the town! Holy fish sticks! This book was great! There is humor, and romance and a lot of mysterious action happening in this book. I can't wait for more stories from Everlasting! I love the fact that there are 4 authors who are all involved in this project, and so far, it is amazing!

I just loved my trip to the town of Everlasting, Maine. Penelope hasn't been back to see her grandfather Wilber and his antique store in awhile despite their shared love of all things old. A broken romance sends her running to her favorite relative and lands her in the middle of a murder investigation. The last thing on her mind is a new romance but she literally runs over Hugh Lupine who gets a bit furry at times, then finds out she comes from a long line of hunters who made it their business to eliminate all things supernatural, though her father has broken with that branch of the family quite violently. Fans of series like Nocturne Falls and Magic and Mayhem are going to love this series. It is a lot less edgy than Ms. Roth's usual work, but every bit as engrossing. I can't wait to visit Everlasting, Maine again!

Penelope is heading back to her home town of Everlasting. She hadn't even made if to town yet when thinks start to go nuts for her. Her navigation is sending her into the ocean. She is so up the creek. All she wanted to do was cone see her grandpa after dealing with her break up from her ex. Now she is trouble with the law! Hugh is a wolf shifter walking around town when literally his mate runs into him. There is murder, mystery, mayhem and I just loved the humor. I few times I was laughing out loud! The characters are great and the interaction between them is just perfect! This was an awesome fun read. If you read one book this year this should be it! Voluntarily reviewed a copy and I honestly LOVED it.

Awesome Paranormal Romance Once Hunted, Twice Shy by Mandy Roth is a story full of humor, of wit, of good paranormal romance. This story is about Hugh a wolf shifter/ fisher man and Penelope, a human albeit with a twist. Penelope has returned back to town to visit her grandfather after been crossed in love. Poor Penny, things get a little strange for her when she is run over (literally) by the local eligible Wolf-Shifter, Hugh. Weird things happen immediately when around sexy Hugh and she is accused of things as soon as she has met him… And then Hugh--Hugh has always made a point to avoid Penelope’s grandfather Wilber Messing! Wilber is known in the supernatural town as a hunter of all things supernatural and spooky- things that go bump in the night. But when he literally runs into Penelope , he knows he is getting super close to the grumpy old man, more so than he ever wanted to. But how can he tell Penelope that he's a werewolf and her grandfather is not the sweet, loving old man she thinks he is. Also, add to all this some untimely deaths being linked to Penelope's arrival and this is one sweet story full of mystery, paranormal romance and humor. There is also a lot of passion and intense chemistry between Hugh and Penelope which definitely was great to read. I also enjoyed the laughs in the story and loved the secondary characters that made appearances in this story. My Rating: 4.6 stars ***** "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***

I have to start out by saying Ms Roth is one talented author. She can write any genre. I’ve read her paranormal romance and was curious to see how she would weave this tale. She didn’t disappoint. Hugh and Penelope were so great together. I was laughing all through the book. Hugh is a big buff alpha werewolf who has a foul mouth so now the community has him putting money into a jar every time he says a dirty word. This is even more embarrassing when it is witnessed by Penelope when she hits him with her car. And not just any car, but a hybrid lol. This is how they meet. Hugh and his inner wolf take notice of Penelope instantly, until he finds that she is related to the man who has hunted and killed his kind and also close relatives all their lives. I’ll let you guys find out what happens next.

Go with what was destined, 5 CRYSTAL BALLS or forever swim against the current. It’s in your blood, you know? the town is full of witches, werewolves, and magic? What rabbit hole had she fallen down? WHAT IN THE EVERLASTING PEANUT BUTTER & JAM SANDWICHES JUST HAPPENED? What a perfectly romantic & funtabulous story and a half!! I hurt from laughing so hard! Or maybe that was from... Nah! It was the laughing! wink Who knew a cup of coffee could be so incredibly funny!!! Right from the start I was transported back to Everlasting, but this time I got to see more of the town, meet more of the people and live & experience it all through, with and as Penelope and Hugh! To say I thoroughly and immensely enjoyed every single word of it is putting it mildly!! I was enchanted from the start, loving the cast of multifaceted characters, laughing my guts out, jealous I don't have sinful cranberry scones, dreaming of the day I can find myself in Everlasting to find me my mate too!! *dreamy sigh* I have been eagerly looking forward to reading this book in the series the most because I wanted to see Mandy's version of a Cozy Paranormal Mystery!! I fell hard in book love with Mandy right from the very first book/series I read of hers! And if you have read the Daughter of Darkness series, then you can see why this book would intrigue me so much! While it is very different (from DoD), it is still filled up with the same Mandylicious storytelling I love, Love, LOVE of hers!!! Mandy is an infinitely & phenomenally talented author who is also exceptionally & genuinely gifted! No matter the style, genre, length, level of naughtiness or what name its written under, Mandy M. Roth has captivated me from beginning to end with every story she writes! Right from that very first book/series, Mandy became one of my very favorite authors and will forever be Happily Everlasting on my bookshelf and in my heart! *grin* “Stop being a gentleman and show me what a beast you can be”

Penelope travels back to Everlasting to visit her favorite grandfather and forget her jerk of an ex. She had no idea she'd be the suspect in a double murder or she'd run into her girlhood friend now all grown up and gorgeous. The secrets exposed are unbelievable. The townspeople are unique to put it nicely. The boy, Hugh, hot and interested. And the police force...I am speechless to describe it. With all of this, can Hugh and Penelope find the real killers and clear her? Will their childhood feelings bloom into grown-up permanent ones? I laughed out loud at the results of a bet. I said "awe" too many times to count and ended with a huge smile on my face. I love the series and I loved this story. I hope there are many more to come in Everlasting. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
