Magic, myth, legend. It's all just smoke and mirrors. Right?
Jack knows that better than anybody. Once a stage magician in Las Vegas, now he grinds out a living as a smuggler, counterfeiter, and debt collector for a California crime boss. And tries to stay off of everyone else's radar while doing it.
Unfortunately, keeping a low profile just isn't in the cards for the Jack of Spades.
A working vacation to Saipan turns deadly when eight card-like tiles of ancient origin draw the attention of syndicate enforcers, undercover agents, and mythical forces beyond imagination.

"A great pulp noir piece involving casinos, gunfights, exotic women, and a dash of magic reminiscent of Big Trouble in Little China. Fun, exciting fiction that reads like my favorite movies from the '80s." – Barbarian Book Club

This is a very interesting story of Jack - who is a hitman/enforcer for the mob. The story is fast-paced with a lot of action from the beginning of the book that kept me interested throughout the book. I have not read the first two books but it does not seem to have made a difference. Excellent book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
