When investigator Gabriel Chavez had his cover blown by an aggressive reporter, the silver lining was being able to rejoin the dive team. The downside? Dive team captain Anissa Bell—a woman who both fascinates and frustrates him.

Anissa grew up as a missionary kid on the Micronesian island of Yap and always planned to return after college. But she remained stateside, determined to solve the case that haunts her—the murder of her best friend and the disappearance of a three-year-old child.

When Anissa's fractured past collides with Gabe's investigation into the tragic shooting death of a teenage boy in Lake Porter, they'll have to put their complicated history with each other aside in order to uncover the identity of a killer. What they'll discover is that revenge has no statute of limitations.

Award-winning author Lynn H. Blackburn closes out her nail-biting Dive Team Investigations series with a story that will have you wondering how long you can hold your breath.

Another great addition to the Dive Team Investigations series. I don’t know what comes next from Lynn Blackburn, but I hope she has some more stories in this series. The title of this one makes you wonder if one of the main characters breathes his or her last breath. You will have to read the book to find out because I’m not telling. I enjoyed the interactions between Anissa, Gabe, and their friends. Each has their own specialty, not only at work but in their friendship circle. I particularly got a charge out of the frequent banter between Anissa and Gabe. Fortunately, it seemed they could both take it as well as they could dish it out. The two teenage girls, Brooke and Liz, added greatly to the story. A few times I think I caught myself holding my breath, wondering what was going to happen. The tension mounted from the first shot fired on the lake until the very end. I recommend this book to everyone who loves suspense-filled books.

This is book three in the Dive Team Investigations but you can enjoy it even if you’ve not read the first two. There are three cases being investigated at the same time. One in which Anissa’s best friend was murdered and a three year old was abducted. A young teenage boy was shot and killed while swimming in a lake and Anissa is being pursued and followed by an unknown source. Anissa is head of the dive team and Gabe, once an undercover investigator, is now trying to help her find resolution to these crimes. Anissa’s supervisor is pushing really hard for these to be solved but there is so much to be uncovered. And of course there is no way they could possibly be tied together. Really? This novel kept me holding my breath at times but not because I was underwater. So much mystery, so much heart pounding suspense. I didn’t want to use a cliche but it truly is a story that will keep you up late into the night turning pages as you try and read faster and faster. And there is a reason for the title but not what you might think...umm. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author but was not required to write a review positive or otherwise. All opinions are my own.

“One Final Breath” by Lynn Blackburn was an excellent read! This is the third book in the Dive Series. I have been looking forward to this next book, and it didn’t disappoint just like the first two. Lynn Blackburn is definitely one of my favorite authors. I have loved everything she’s written. This book follows Gabe Chavez and Anissa Bell. When they discover a teenage boy that has been shot in the water, they team up to find out what really happened. This investigation, in turn, brings up a lot of Gabe’s and Anissa’s pasts. I highly recommend this book and the whole Dive Team series. It has suspense, romance and a little twist all thrown in. I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

Lynn Blackburn has returned for the last hurrah for her Dive Team series, #3, One Final Breath. Gabe Chavez and Anissa Bell rise to the foreground on this novel, falling for each other while trying to escape painful pasts. The rest of the team is back, fleshing out the character list and bringing love, amusement, and memories from former books. Which leads me to relate that this novel is quite capable of being a standalone; it’s just sweeter when the reader can identify with the backstory presented. The friendship and camaraderie of the dive team and their significant others really impressed me. Between the locale, the season, and the warm atmosphere the friends create, life was almost idyllic... Until it wasn’t. Then life was frantic, uncertain, vomiting past terrifying experiences up in front of those who most needed to remain calm and collected. Paisley Wilson is an interesting character to watch. The reader won’t know what to make of Gabe’s arch-nemesis who is suddenly very much a part of this case. If the romance, intrigue, and suspense aren’t enough motivation, Mr. Cook returns and is a great reason to read this book. Everyone needs a Mr. Cook in their lives! He prays his way through adversity and sees much more than is actually visible. Get this book and dive deep into some great suspense. I received this book from the author through Revell and NetGalley. No positive review was required, and all opinions are solely my own.

Gabe and Anissa have the best banter! Their relationship is packed with complexities from the workplace to being friends of dating friends to their individually reluctant stance on romance. Gabe’s tender heart wrapped in a workaholic get-it-done mentality is completely endearing. He’s an underdog hero who infuses life with humor. Anissa has pit-bull tenacity, compassion, and mad dive skills to boot! Her loyalty, strength, and faith make her a top-notch investigator and friend. Blackburn has created a perfect balance of suspense, romance, and authentic faith elements in this story! I’ve completely fallen in love with these characters and look forward to revisiting them in future rereads! I highly recommend the Dive Team Investigations series! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.

Finally, the couple I've been shipping since the very beginning! Their love/hate dynamic is great, along with their complicated history. And Anissa's past resurfaces as they find themselves dealing with two cases and their greatest fears and trying to figure out their emotions for each other. For all the mystery, though, the one I was most invested in was went down during Anissa's part in Gabe's undercover opp... Anyway, I think this is my favorite of the series, and I was glad to see Anissa and Gabe with their own book. Though I'm a bit suspicious with the number of Hispanic, bilingual cops with dark pasts named Gabe showing up in Christian romantic suspense. If that's the next big thing, I think I can live with that. I received a copy of this novel from Revell. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

This is the third book in the Dive Team Investigation series and I highly recommend every book in the series - that being said, this book is written in such a way that it could be read as a standalone; however, I personally recommend reading the first two books so that you can have a better understanding of all the team has gone through. I've been excited to read Anissa and Gabe's story ever since I finished book two and this book was even better then I expected! Seriously, this has to be my favorite in the entire series. There is so much depth to each of the characters and I LOVED the dynamic relationship between Gabe and Anissa. What really set this book apart for me was how strong both Anissa and Gabe's faith was. It was really amazing to see both character's faith in action and to see them live it on a daily basis. (yes, I know that the character's are fictional, but we can still learn a lot from them) Overall, with a dynamic storyline that keeps you on the edge of your seat and a very explosive ending, One Final Breath is a definite "Must Read". Rated 5 out of 5 stars *****

*I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell at Baker Publishing Group in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts below are my own ALL THE PRAISE FOR A FANTASTIC NEW SUSPENSE NOVEL BY LYNN H. BLACKBURN! In book three of the Dive Team Investigations series, a decade old kidnapping, a budding romance between two intense characters and a recent murder binds the pages of this story together in a riveting read! After reading In Too Deep (Book 2) last November, I was elated to dive into this story and delighted to find out that it did not disappoint but rather exceeded expectations!   One Final Breath, book three in the Dive Team Investigations series by Lynn H. Blackburn follows the story of homicide detective and dive team captain, Anissa Bell and Investigator Gabe Chavez as they find themselves suddenly thrown into a mysterious shooting and subsequent murder on Lake Porter in Carrington Co., North Carolina. Both characters are intensely professional, strong and wildly passionated about their work, each with their own past influencing their daily lives at present. As the mystery begins to unfold, these two characters find themselves facing a decade old murder and kidnapping case, a current murder and a series of events that leads to Anissa’s life being threatened. With the help of their co-workers and friends, the dive team works together to uncover the truth. One Final Breath was a definite page turner for me. I had trouble putting it down and enjoyed it even more than In Too Deep. While this story line isn’t constant action, it flows well and has many elements of surprise throughout. The suspense held my interest and the start of a relationship between two dynamic characters was something to savor as they work embrace their newly discovered feelings and connect on a deeper level. Blackburn creates a beautiful vision of professionalism, camaraderie and friendship between the dive teammates and characters from the previous two books, focusing on how each member has a unique talent and uses that gift to uplift others. The elements of faith that Blackburn wove into this novel are subtle yet profound, covering topics such as guilt, forgiveness and reliance on God. This novel can be read as a standalone but will surely be enjoyed just as much as part of the series. I highly recommend this story to both those who like romantic suspense and those who enjoy mysteries. This novel is appropriate for older teenagers in my opinion. It is a great read, for certain and I hope you enjoy One Final Breath as much as I did!

A book full of many twist, turns, and intrigue. This book keeps you guessing the "who done it" all the way through the book. Edge of you seat suspense, not sure who you can open to the door for, who is around the corner, or who is always watching you! The characters are fighting all kinds of evil as they try to unravel a new mystery which leads them down the path of an old mystery. You never know what lies beneath the water for the dive team. As the character roles play out in the story of friendships, love interest, and family, they all have to watch each other’s back. For there is a man with the gun and scope watching to take one of the team out for good!

'Gabe Chavez. He'd gotten under her skin for years, but lately he'd gotten inside her head.' (p. 16) At last! Anissa Bell now considers what her friends have already recognized...she and Gabe are meant for each other but before they can concentrate on their relationship they must try to find out who killed a teenage boy and attempt to solve a crime from Anissa's past. One Final Breath has heart-stopping action, exciting underwater adventure, and a sweet but intense romance between Anissa and Gabe. This is the final book of Lynn H. Blackburn's Dive Team Investigations series and she gives her fans the perfect conclusion. We see the two couples from the first two books enjoying their lives together and we're given the possibility of a future life for Anissa and Gabe. I enjoyed learning more about the work of this special group of investigators and the events and situations that they handle but I wasn't grossed out by the author's descriptions, even though they are often traumatic and very dangerous activities. I could feel Anissa and Gabe's confusion about their relationship and I truly enjoyed the friendship that these six team members share. Lynn H. Blackburn knows how to draw us into each story that she writes and One Final Breath is no different; it is worthy of being described as a "take your breath away" book! There is hope, faith, and friendship and I recommend it to all who enjoy Christian fiction and romantic suspense. I received a complimentary copy from the author but a positive review was never required. These are my honest thoughts.

Excellent attention-grabbing suspense... One Final Breath Dive Team Investigations #3 By Lynn H. Blackburn What can I say other than this was a really great read. Well, I guess I could say more than that and I will. First off this book is the third in the Dive Team Investigations series and this time the focus is on Detective Gabe Chavez and the Dive Team Captain Anissa Bell and their rather complex working relationship. When a shooting on Lake Porter claims the life of a teenager and leaves a devastated survivor behind Anissa and Gabe's pasts raise their heads in regards to this case. Gabe because of the links to his blown undercover career and Anissa because of her own survivor's guilt. But the timing of the shooting leaves little evidence and leads are in short supply. As lead investigator Gabe is determined that this is one case that won't go cold. Soon the team is faced with two cases one that seems to be a personal threat against Anissa that places more than one team member in danger. The more they look for a reason or a suspect the more everything seems to point to Anissa's past but could this case have a bearing on their current shooting as well? Without giving anything away I will say the perpetrator is extremely determined and very vengeful. Definitely not the type of person to tick off. And believe me, you most definitely won't guess who is behind what is going on. The intensity grows as the story progresses and there is no dragging that detracts from the pacing. Fans of Lynette Eason's work and her Blue Justice series will enjoy a quick appearance once again from Detective Brady St. John. One doesn't have to read the previous two books in this series before reading this one but it does help with understanding references to previous events if you read the series in order. This is fairly clean reading with a touch of violence (murder isn't too clean) but the romance is completely clean reading in this Romantic Suspense. Would make a good book club selection that would have a wide range of appeal satisfying the often varied tastes of a group's readers. This is a page-turner that will keep you reading long into the night. I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by the publisher with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion, All thoughts expressed are my own.

** “I was terrified of exposure. Of the truth being revealed. But it turns out that open books aren’t so bad. They let the people who love you the most help you read them correctly. Most of the time people who keep everything closed and secret don’t have an accurate interpretation of the facts.” ** Lynn H. Blackburn offers another intense romantic thriller with “One Final Breath,” the third installment of her “Dive Team Investigations” series. When a teen boy is shot and killed on the lake while Homicide Investigator and Dive Team Captain Anissa Bell and her fellow investigators and friends are also relaxing on the lake, a case from Anissa’s past is brought to the forefront. She and her fellow investigator (and possible love match) Gabe Chavez must determine what this case has to do with her 13-year-old case while keeping each other safe from an unknown killer. They must also overcome past failures and traumas in their lives to be willing to give romance a chance. “One Final Breath” is a non-stop, action-packed story filled with murder, kidnappings, explosions, shootings, stabbings and stalkers, all while offering just enough romance to curl your toes. Blackburn always does a fantastic job of developing her characters, giving them deep back stories with relatable issues. She also offers little surprises, by bringing in other author’s characters in supporting roles — like Lynette Eason’s Brady St. John in this story. Besides being a great thriller, though, “One Final Breath” provides a number of great themes, like dealing with and overcoming your own perceived failures and feeling at fault; letting go of grudges; opening up to those who love and support us; through Jesus’ sacrifice we are uncondemnable; and God can do big things in our lives so don’t put Him in a box, trying to limit Him. This book can easily be read as a standalone, but I’d encourage you to read the other installments. Fans of Lynette Eason, Patricia Bradley, Terri Blackstock and Sandra Orchard will enjoy “One Final Breath.” Five stars out of five. Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group, provided this complimentary copy for my honest, unbiased review.

I have been anticipating this book for MONTHS! The first two books in this series are amazing and I knew the finale would not disappoint. It did not! The relationship between Anissa and Gabe was so intriguing in the prior books and watching their relationship progress in this story was so worth it. The mysteries in this book draw you in from the beginning and I had trouble putting the book down because I wanted to know what was going to happen. Learning Anissa & Gabe’s backstories(finally!) answered a lot of questions and played in to the current mysteries perfectly. I was also thrilled to see a favorite character of mine from the first book, Mr. Cook in this story and that he played a more major role in this book. Lynn is very good a crafting a perfect mix of humor, romance, mystery and faith in her stories and this one has all of that. I am so sad this series is done because it is a favorite of mine but I am excited to see what Lynn has in store for us next! I received this book for review and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.

A cold case solved, a friendship turned to romance, and the return of characters I just love—what a great end to this exciting series. After seeing the sparks flying between Gabe and Anissa in the first two books of this series, I was ready to see their relationship unfold. I was not disappointed. I really enjoyed digging deeper into their great characters. Anissa struggled with guilt from her past and finding her purpose with God, but her faith was strong, which I loved. Full review is at my website. I received this book complimentary from the author. I was not required to give a review. All of the opinions I have expressed here are my own.

This book is the third and final book in the Dive Team Investigations series. I was given the opportunity to read this book through The book I received and read was an advanced reader's copy. I am not required to give a review of any kind but I chose to do so and this is my honest opinion. I have not read any of the other books in the series and that was ok. It probably would have been a little better if I had read them, but it did not take away from this book at all. Ms. Blackburn did a wonderful job of bringing her characters to life. The story kept my interest throughout and it flowed well. The plot was interesting, part mystery and part romance. The ending was as expected but not disappointing, you didn't know exactly how it would play out and that was good. As stated, this was an advanced reader copy so I hope the editing was improved. It wasn't really bad throughout the book but most noticeable in the last 60 or so pages. An example is a word should have been "broke" but was written "broken" and it stuck out. Another one that annoyed me was in spoken conversation. I tried to overlook it as people do/would speak that way, but the grammar was totally wrong. I guess I'm the "grammar police" type person, but a poorly edited book will ruin the whole book for me. Also, I repeat, the editing was not awful, just needs more attention in the copy I read. All that said, if you like a good Christian book that is not preachy, you will enjoy this. The Christian part was written showing how Christians behave in certain situations and how prayer plays a huge role in a Christian's life. If you like romance, you will enjoy this and you will also enjoy it if you like crime-drama mysteries. I would recommend this book to my friends and I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

I had loved the characters, the mysteries, and the action in this series and was not disappointed in this third book! I really enjoyed the suspense in this book and was shocked by all the twists and turns. I am glad we finally got to read more about Gabe and Anissa because I have liked them in the past books. You do not need to read the first two books before reading this one, as their relationship gets further explored in this story. I liked that we got to read a bit more about the dive team members we met in other books, too. The villain is bone-chillingly evil and adds to the suspense! I really liked this series and look forward to more by this author! I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Publishing. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This Dive Team Investigations mystery/suspense/romance book, while interesting, almost had too much romance at the expense of the investigation. It is typical of Lynn Blackburn's writing. Gabe Chavez, an investigator and part of the dive team, has to team up with Anissa, a missionary kid whom he had a frustrating past history with. Their investigations collide with Anissa's tragic past and they have several things to work through, along with trying to survive and figure out who their suspects are. This is a good and interesting book and she kept my interest. It had several life lessons in it including finding God's purpose in what we are doing where we are. That we don't have to be missionaries for God to use us. Anissa's faith is remarkable despite the trauma and tragedy she and others experienced. I enjoyed reading this book and recommend it as a great Christian mystery/suspense book. (Please Note: Although a copy of this book was provided to me to review by Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group, the opinions expressed are my own.)

One Final Breath is the third installment from Lynn H Blackburn’s series, Dive Team Investigations. I have enjoyed the first two books in the series and this one does not disappoint. It is probably my favorite to date. It is full of adventure, action, mystery and suspense. I did not find Gabe and Anissa’s story to be predictable. There were some twists and turns that kept me to keep reading until the end. I had the whole book read in one sitting. I am giving One Final Breath a well deserved five plus stars. I recommend this book, as well as, the series to readers who enjoy a well written and clean mystery. Great read! I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

Investigator Gabe Chavez and Dive Team Captain Anissa Bell find themselves working together when Gabe's current case has mysterious ties to a tragedy in Anissa's past. Will they be able to catch the killer before it's too late? An utterly fantastic, action-packed read. The third in a series, but the first book that I've read by this author, it wasn't hard to jump right in step with the characters in this thrilling, high stakes adventure. Anissa and Gabe are both strong in their faith, they've worked together before but not to this extent. Anissa has always been at home in the water, raised the daughter of missionaries, she has always wanted to get justice for her friend. She is good leader, meticulous on the crime scene, with a strong sense for organization. Gabe is good at diffusing tense situations with humor. He is protective of Anissa and has admired her for a long time. Overall, a fantastic read, with a complex mystery, well-developed characters, and plenty of action. I liked how this book balanced the action and suspense with great personal growth and depth. I loved the camaraderie between the dive team members, they are always encouraging each other, and are not afraid to give real advice. And if you are a Lynette Eason fan, you'll be thrilled as I was that a character from her Blue Justice Series makes a cameo appearance! Highly recommend this dynamic read, if you come in on the third book like me or if you have read the whole series, this isn't one that you'll want to miss! I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Where has Lynn Blackburn been all of my life? She is easily one of my new favorite authors. She has a pizazz in her writing that I haven’t nailed down yet, but it is definitely my style. She is on the immediate pre-order list. The Dive Team Investigators series has just been more outstanding with every book. I was so excited to “dive in” to Gabe and Anissa’s story, and I was not disappointed. Murder, kidnapping, mistaken identity, and mysterious pasts, each new revelation will keep you turning the pages until the wee hours. The romance was tender, well-paced, and true to what we know about the characters. The suspense hit you from tons of different angles and constantly kept you guessing on what would happen next. There were a few moments when I was craving more information about both Anissa and Gabe. I felt some was withheld too long and some was never shared at all. Gabe is a character that really intrigued me, and I wish we’d spent a little more time with him. Maybe we’ll see more Gabe in future Blackburn books! I’m really sad to say farewell to this group, but look forward to what Lynn is plotting out next! I was given an early copy of this manuscript through NetGalley for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own. (I also purchased this book on audible.)

I didn't want this series to end but was compelled to read Gabe and Anissa's story. Once again, Blackburn has produced a page-turning story with a plot any rollercoaster designer would envy. There are fascinating glimpses into backstory for the main characters and heart pounding action scenes. My only question as I closed the book was "when does her next series come out." This whole series has cemented her as one of my go-to authors, but brilliantly, each novel can be read as a stand alone, it's just more fun to already feel like you know the main players.

This series just keeps getting better with each installment. I love every one of the characters that keep showing up in this series. I really enjoy reading about this dive team and how they help to solve murders and other crimes. Gabe and Anissa start out as friends and then fall in love slowly. They are not sure that they deserve to be happy. It is fun to read how they work it all out. I love the intrigue throughout the series. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

Having just listened to In Too Deep, the second book in the Dive Team Investigations series by Lynn Blackburn, I was eager to read One Final Breath. Several investigations converge and the past histories of some of the characters are revealed layer by layer. And yet the author keeps the reader's interest high with unexpected twists and turns and lots of action-packed scenes and of course, a sweet romance. I loved that the main characters from the three books are such good friends. They know each other well and have each others' backs. Their faith in God during difficult times is an inspiration. From the beginning to the climactic ending One Final Breath is a fascinating book. Readers who love romantic suspense will not want to miss this book or the whole series for that matter. I received a complimentary copy of the book from Netgalley and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.

I love this novel and series! Finishing it is a mixed blessing – I couldn’t wait to see what would happen but didn’t want it to end! The main characters and their friends are strong Christians who are unashamed of their faith that influences their lives. The complex plot was impossible to for me to untangle, and spiritual lessons are priceless. The dive team is at Leigh and Ryan’s home on Lake Porter. Adam joins them with Sabrina, his fiancée. Anissa, Ryan, Adam, and Gabe are on the dive team through the sheriff’s office. Anissa and Gabe get along like oil and water; she has few close friends. Gabe understands a bit of her heart, especially since she killed a suspect several months ago to save Sabrina. She has secrets in her past that she guards carefully, convinced that most will reject her if they know. A thunderstorm rolls in as they hear a gunshot and screams. The dive team goes out in the boat to find who is calling for help. Anissa jumps into the water even as more gunshots are heard; she grabs the boy whose head a teen girl is trying to keep above water. Jeremy, the boy, has been shot, and they give him CPR until EMT’s arrive. Gabe might have to take himself off the case even though he is next in the rotation; he and the sister of Brooke, the teen girl, is Paisley, a reporter he had an unpleasant encounter with that forever changed his career. Paisley wants him on the case because he is so good at his job. Gabe and Anissa are forging a peaceful working relationship and begin fighting an attraction to each other. Brooke attempts suicide. Brooke’s loss of her best friend Jeremy brings memories of a long-ago event for which Anissa has felt responsible, she could be a good friend to Brooke. Someone is gunning for Anissa; Gabe is injured yet determined to protect her. The six friends work together to find who the bad guy is and why. Despite knowing Gabe will back away from her when he learns about the death of her best friend and disappearance of the three-year-old she should have been babysitting. It is necessary to reveal all, however, as the killer has resurfaced after all these years. I love how well these friends work together! Sabrina, a professor of cybersecurity and computer forensics, is one of my favorite characters, as is Anissa. Sabrina’s investigation, intuition, and tenacious searching is invaluable. Anissa is a hard-working, faith-filled young woman who I so want to see have a chance at a better future than she has imagined! Whether or not she has met her match in Gabe remains to be seen; he is her protector and worthy investigative partner. The prayers and kindness of those in the community, especially Mr. Cook, are a balm to Anissa’s wounded soul. One Final Breath is even better than the first two novels in this series. It is very complex, showing even the thoughts of the unnamed bad guy as his frustration rises at his best efforts at killing Anissa fail. Anissa struggles with her finding true calling and the spiritual lessons necessary for her to learn to go forward. I highly recommend One Final Breath, and the other novels in this series, to those who appreciate in-depth Christian thrillers where relationships with the Lord are demonstrated well, suspense is plentiful, and humor is woven throughout grave situations faced. From a thankful heart: I received a copy of this novel from the publisher and NetGalley, and this is my honest review.
