About the Author

Sandra Boynton is a popular American cartoonist, children’s author, songwriter, producer, and director. Since 1974, Boynton has written and illustrated over sixty children’s books and seven general audience books, including five New York Times bestsellers. More than 70 million of her books have been sold, “mostly to friends and family,” she says. She has also written (with Michael Ford) and produced six albums of renegade children’s music. Three of her six albums have been certified Gold (over 500,000 copies sold) and Philadelphia Chickens, nominated for a Grammy, has been certified Platinum (over 1 million copies sold). Boynton has also directed twelve music videos of her songs, including the award-winning “One Shoe Blues” starring B.B. King, “Alligator Stroll” starring Josh Turner, and “Tyrannosaurus Funk” (animated) sung by Samuel L. Jackson. She lives in rural New England, and her studio is in a barn with perhaps the only hippopotamus weathervane in America.

This is a great book for little ones and bigger children, too. The illustrations are wonderfully funny and illustrate (duh!) the opposites very nicely. An instant hit with the children.

This board book teaches simple opposite concepts. On each page, two animals, accompanied by text that is drawn to look like the concept it is referring to, illustrate a concept like up and down. Each pair of pairs rhyme, which will make this a fun book to read aloud with a young child. The illustrations, done with simple lines and soft colors, are quietly humourous, and, combined with the typesetting, will make this book a favorite for adults looking for a book to share with their 0-2 year old.

This is another great Boynton concept that teaches children that is ok to be different from others, and all of the many opposites there are.

I just bought this book and I really enjoyed reading it.

This is exactly the book you'd expect - each page has two animals doing opposite things (one is WEAK, the other STRONG, one talks in a WHISPER, the other in a SHOUT), with only two adjectives per page as the words (so don't expect Boynton's witty banter - the illustrations have to suffice) until the book is over.

A cute and happy book for toddlers and preschoolers, to help introduce simple concepts of up and down, heavy and light, day and night etc. Boynton's simple, clear and cheerful drawings always appeal to little people. Good for toddlers to kindergarten age.

this is one of the books that my kids learned to read on, I would read the first word and my kids would respond with the opposite word. We read this book a hundred times and I will definitely be reading it to my 1.5 yr old when he is old enough.

I got this book when my son was 4 months old. He has always really liked it! He thinks it is so funny and silly. I think it is really illustrating these concepts well for him. He is nearly 8 months old and he still loves this book! It cleans up nicely too- sometimes we read right after he eats and he gets his books messy! Some of the board books get stained but this one so far has held up nicely. My only complaint is that it is kind of expensive ($5-$6 plus tax...) for such a short book!

I did not know this auther when I got the first Sandra Boynton book for my son's book collection. I have fallen in love with all the books so far. This book is fun and simple. Mt son is 13 months old, and he loves all the books by Sandra.

Love the Boynton Board books for my grandson. The characters are charming and colorful and engage the little ones with basic concepts and humor enough to keep the elders re-reading hundreds of times.

I bought this book for my newborn anticipating the time when I would start reading to her. Now 5 months old, I have been reading this to her for more than a month. The illustrations are simple but interesting and she sits next to me and just stares at the pictures. Other books I have purchase seem too cluttered or busy for her to focus on. She loves this book and it is so much fun to read!!
