About the Author

Kathi Lipp is a busy conference and retreat speaker and the author of several books, including The Husband ProjectThe Cure for the “Perfect” Life, and The Get Yourself Organized Project. She and her husband, Roger, live in California and are the parents of four young adults.

Cheri Gregory is a certified personality trainer and has written numerous magazine articles and drama scripts. When she’s not writing, she loves to ride at the Monterey Bay Horsemanship and Therapeutic Center and to jog with her keeshond, Shatzi. She and her husband, Daniel, have been married for 25 years and are the parents of two young adults.

BOOK... if you have ever felt overwhelmed by your life - by juggling all the hats that you have to wear in your ordinary life... if you have ever felt like you race around putting out fires only to have them re-ignite by the time you get back around to them. This book offers up explanations of how your personality type manifests itself in feeling overwhelmed in different areas and provides practical advice to help you deal with your feelings of overwhelm and help you to quiet the chaos in your life. Kathi Lipp and Cheri Gregory share their own struggles with overwhelming life circumstances along with the various actions that have worked for them on their quest to calmer lives. If you don't already love these two authors, you will after reading this book - you will consider them your kindred spirits!

This book came at the perfect time in my life. I was given the book in exchange for my honest review. I was so incredibly overwhelmed around the holidays because well, the holidays, a family member had just had a major health crisis, and we are updating our home to sell and undergoing foster care adoption classes. Overwhelmed is an understatement. I felt guilty when I passed the book for 3 days on the coffee table. I was thinking I lost my mind committing to read it and review during that time. I finally cracked it open and it cracked me open. I was able to breathe and give it all to the Lord again and ask him to take my chaos and craft it into His beauty. I gave Him my agenda and picked up His = always the wiser choice. What a blessing, what a gift, what a book! If you feel frazzled or at your wits end, read it. It's not another to do on your plate. It's the one thing that will help you organize your to dos so that you may tackle the things that matter most.

I SO wish that I would have had this book a few years ago! I wouldn't have spent so much time beating myself up emotionally for feeling overwhelmed and defeated. Instead, I would have flipped this book open to ANY page and found much needed grace, enjoyed some lighthearted giggles and applied practical steps (such as pre-deciding, project maps and managing time) to help get me out from under overwhelmed. Thank you, thank you! I can face overwhelm with renewed confidence and peace!

The title of the book is NOT another DIY on how to organize your house, car or schedule. Overwhelmed for for those of us who feel just that, overwhelmed. Both Kathi and Cheri offer relatable stories and practical advice on how to come out from being overwhelmed!

It seems that these days "overwhelmed" is our way of life. This book brings the good news that it doesn't have to be that way! Cheri and Kathi are very open in sharing their stories - their struggles and failures, and what they've learned along the way. Then they share practical steps that we can take to get out from Overwhelmed! Their suggestions are so sensible and - in many cases - so easy to do, you won't feel overwhelmed with the process! Bottom line: the book is an easy read & the recommendations are easily attained...but the difference it can make in your life? Priceless!

I love Kathi Lipp''s books since I discovered "The Husband Project". I have since purchased many of her books. She has always written her books to help you from her beautiful heart and you are never disappointed by the way she presents her help to you. She writes with such a "Me Too" way and with humor to make you feel like you are sitting down with her in person. Cheri Gregory has been been such an added bonus in this book with her ways of looking at the world and all the mess we get ourselves in to! She helps you see you can make steps to help yourself to not be overwhelmed or how their tips helped her fix the overwhelmed areas. These ladies teach you how to effectively live your life without being overwhelmed or if you are already overwhelmed, they teach you how become not "overwhelmed" in practical and humorous ways. The ways are simple, effective and practical. The way it is presented as just two women who share their stories openly and honestly to help others. There is no lecturing or preaching on how you MUST do things to fix your chaotic life. Just wonderful ideas that you can implement and not have to become "overwhelmed" trying to manage you life. If you've ever been even a little overwhelmed you need to read this book, it will help you feel peace and not feel "overwhelmed" anymore.

A great book that will help the reader change from feeling overwhelmed and chaotic to in control and calm. Each chapter gives practical ways to help organize daily projects and long term projects. What a great book to give as a gift, too! I received a copy of this book from the authors and this is my personal opinion.

As a mom of 4, I am constantly living in a life of overwhelm. I feel like I never have time to breathe, rest and just sit still to collect my thoughts and just be. I jumped at the chance to be on the book launch team for this book based on the title alone and received an advanced reader copy of the book in exchange for my honest review. The perfect book for a busy mom like me. I love how Kathi and Cheri each share personal stories and their personal steps in getting out from overwhelmed. I found it quite interesting how our personality types determine what overwhelms us and how each of us should proceed. Cheri's perspective on HSP's and being a giver who never practices self care to refill her own cup describes me. I give so freely to others, but never think to take the time to focus on myself so that my passion for helping others doesn't drain me of all my energy. Kathi's insistence of honoring the Sabbath was eye opening for me as I always go non-stop and use Sundays to catch up on everything I didn't get done during the week and to prepare for the new week. I need to force rest into my schedule and to have a day to devote to recharging and taking a break from my never-ending "to do" list. I am so thankful for this book, the wonderful authors who are like close friends walking along side each reader as we try to sort through our lives and what overwhelms us. I ended up gifting copies of the book to a number of close friends so we can discuss what we've learned and to encourage each other in moving forward with applying what the authors suggest to our personal lives to create a life of peace, joy and no more overwhelm. This book is for anyone and everyone who feels weighed down and living life in the fast lane which is the norm these days. Excited to dig deeper with my girlfriends in the coming weeks.

I am tired of feeling overwhelmed. Many years of goal-setting and driving hard to achieve those goals left me feeling frazzled, stretched, and out of focus. I was presented with an opportunity to read an advanced copy of Kathi Lipp and Cheri Gregorie's new book, Overwhelmed. The title grabbed me. I knew I needed whatever they had to say to me. The book did not disappoint. Kathi and Cheri walk readers through they why's and how's of feeling overwhelmed. Their insight shed light, not only in my heart but also helped me understand what makes my husband and kids feel overwhelmed and frustrated. They also outline some practical strategies for dealing with and avoiding that overwhelmed state of being. They avoid the usuals like "wake up early" and other "do more with less" strategies. Kathi and Cheri address the deeper issues, encouraging heart change over behavior modification. I've recommended this book several times since finishing it. It is one I will return to again and again. *I received an advance reader's copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

This has been an excellent read. I have learned not only what makes me feel overwhelmed but how to get out from under it. Kathi and Cheri fill the pages of this book with personal experiences and what worked for them. It's filled with tons of suggestions to help anyone from the very overwhelmed to the not so overwhelmed person work through it to be at their best.

Sometimes we use the term "I'm overwhelmed" like a badge of honor, but do we really want to feel that way? Kathi and Cheri have given us a book that truly helps! First it helps identify what makes us overwhelmed and then gives us practical tools to help. I highly recommend this book, I wish I had it when I was younger.

At first I was just excited to read a new Kathi Lipp book! I didn't anticipate the impact on my daily life that it would have. I am often left to feel overwhelmed in my life as "Wife-Mom-Nana-Teacher-Quilter-Student-Volunteer-etc...", so I figured a few suggestions from a book like this (co-authored by another gifted writer Cheri Gregory) couldn't help but offer some hints to help me. What I received from the pages of this book goes beyond words; Assessment quizzes, concrete "next steps" and prayers to end each chapter. My copy is "OVERWHELMED" in highlighter, underlines and circles! The words from these authors have guided me to create a Personal Manifesto to manage my time & talents, my decisions & priorities; lifting weight I didn't realize I was carrying around. I highly recommend doing yourself (or anyone) a huge favor; Get and READ the book Overwhelmed so that life won't be!

I too was on the launch team for this book and received an advance copy. Like a lot of moms (and dads), I too am at a place in life that being overwhelmed is the norm. Kathi and Cheri have opened my eyes to see that I'm not alone and that it's a temporary situation. Overwhelmed digs into how/why each different personality gets overwhelmed and how to tackle it. I really appreciated that Kathi and Cheri shared their own experiences of being overwhelmed in their own lives, where it all starts and how to come out of it in easy and practical steps. I still have a lot of work that needs to be done, mostly following through, which is an area I struggle. I absolutely need this book in my life and will be recommending it to everyone.

This book is so full of practical tools and encouragement to help you get out from being overwhelmed. After reading the book and then applying many of the strategies in various areas of my life, I feel like I'm in a MUCH better place than I was before reading it. Whether you feel just on the edge of overwhelm, or in way over your head, I highly recommend this book!

I love when God brings two amazing authors together to share both their experiences in one amazing book! Overwhelmed book has released at just the perfect time. Kathi and Cheri give such practical advice on how to stop the crazy chaotic feeling we have at Christmastime, and restore the sanity and joy of what a new year brings. A few of my favorite quotes: "It's overwhelming to know what needs to be done but to watch yourself not doing it." "Overwhelmed turns us into someone God never created us to be." "What overwhelms you invigorates someone else." They shares 4 kinds of help to build your home and/or work team. I’m excited to give copies away as gifts this year and look forward to rounding up my girlfriends for a study on Overwhelmed!

In signature Kathi Lipp and Cheri Gregory style, "Overwhelmed" teaches how we become overwhelmed, how we can break it up into manageable chunks, and finally how to manage those chunks so that life feels a lot less--well, overwhelming. Sprinkled with personal anecdotes, relevant Scripture verses, and practical suggestions, this book is so very helpful. Each chapter begins with Kathi's teachings, and finishes with Cheri's research and putting it into practice with practical tips and suggestions for implementing Kathi's teachings. While I love Kathi's work, it is with Cheri's application that I truly felt connection with a kindred spirit. As a teacher and researcher myself, I identify with so much of what she writes. The marriage of the two writers' work is a match made in heaven. I look forward to putting many of these suggestions into practice in the next weeks and months as we enter 2017. Hopefully as my second semester of school begins, I will have a clearer picture of where I can make some gradual changes to reduce crisis-mode living at work and exhausted, overwhelmed living at home.

Book Review Have you ever been so overwhelmed you didn't know which air to breathe next? That's where I've been the last few months! It's not pretty and makes the people around you wish you stayed in your room all day. Well, I have a book for you....and me! Kathi Lipp and Cheri Gregory hit it out of the ball park again with their newly released, Overwhelmed: How to Quiet the Chaos and Restore Your Sanity. I committed to join their book launch team back in the summer. I didn't know the depth of my need for their words right now. In fact, I'm late in getting this review completed and posted for them. I read it from front to back underlining and noting on the sides with big exclamations marks. Here's the thing - I’m drowning and not sure how to keep my head up any longer. Sound familiar? How did it get this way? I don't have time to figure that out but that's exactly what we need to do. Kathi and Cheri unpack the "how's", the "why's", and the "whats" by sharing their own stories in each chapter. Yet they don't leave you there. After the unpacking, they line up the ways to carry your tidy, useful, and manageable suitcase from here on out. The chapters end with effective questions for yourself or to do with a group and a prayer to reinforce the practices given. Corresponding Bible verses throughout the book aid the points made and are pertinent for memorizing. Cheri shares; "Most days, I feel as though someone threw my heart in a blender, and added all the feels, and hit puree"..."We can still be blindsided by how draining even basic decision-making becomes when life gets complicated. Research shows that our fluid intelligence-our general ability to think abstractly, reason, identify patterns, solve problems, and discern relationships- drops significantly when we are overwhelmed." Kathi comments, "When I start my day well, the rest of my day doesn't feel like one long rush to catch up." She creates what that looks like by talking about "Early Evening Kathi', "First Thing in the morning Kathi" and "Daytime Kathi". She states, "Our most important evening job is to get set up for the next day." "Our routines help us become better versions of ourselves." Kathi, also analyzes in the last chapter what Sabbath is about and how our whole week should be about preparing for that day, instead of Sunday becoming the catch up day. She shares we all need a day of rest. It might not be on Sunday but "you get focused about completing your work in six days instead of seven." They discuss "safe" and "unsafe" people and strained relationships that drain you. I loved this quote, "In the time I spent debating whether to do something, I could have done it. Living without structure isn't freedom; it's a free-for-all that turns into chaos." You will find help in writing your own manifesto allowing you to know who you are and make choices accordingly. Step by step instructions in accomplishing tasks with micro-steps and placing them on your calendar are included. This read is fun, correctional, and spiritual with abundant guidance. You can identify with these two women and learn from their study and experience. If you are feeling overwhelmed, confused, and lacking in decision making in your life, pick up Overwhelmed! I was given a book by the authors and am writing this review to get the word out about it but I also, bought 8 books hoping for a small group discussion and accountability plus for gifting. This is an Overwhelmingly Helpful Book! I was on the launch team for this book, and I have enjoyed every word and concept on it's pages. Kathi and Cheri write their own stories alongside great ways to conquer overwhelm. Their personalities are quite different, which makes this book highly relatable to the majority of us out here. One of my favorite things in the book is about writing a personal manifesto. It's a great way to think about who you are and who you are aspiring to be. Then you can base decisions on those pre-determined things and make life a whole lot easier. You will not be disappointed in this book!

This book has helped me see a way out of my overwhelmed life. I am one who always has many irons in the fire, and tends to get burned. Learning about WHY things overwhelm me is the first step to not letting them take over! There are baby steps to get yourself out from under being Overwhelmed. This book was easy to read and offers baby steps that are totally manageable for finding your way back to normal life. I highly recommend this book!

I found this book to be life changing. The advice is great, from unpacking how/ why I am overwhelmed and great tools to become less so. Even as I was doing dishes last night and feeling overwhelmed by the tasks before I could go to bed and several tools came to mind to help me be less overwhelmed in the morning. Since I have read this book I have gone back and referenced it time and again to help me adjust my expectations and help me think through better systems. Quite frankly, I was afraid that reading the book would make me feel MORE overwhelmed or that it would take too much time to do it. NOPE. It really broke it down for me and allowed me to work with what I have on my plate and break these issues into manageable pieces. Even as a homeschool mom of a medical needs child, I cannot change what is ON my plate, but I can change how I deal with these things to make it work for me in a manageable fashion. Definitely a new go-to tool!! I cannot recommend this book enough!

I love this book! Kathi and Cheri share amazing stories that show how they can relate to the reader. Love the humor too! I was able to make my life less chaotic by getting rid of my never ending to-do list and organizing a calendar to help me get things done. I feel at peace with tasks that used to make me feel out of control. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is struggles with feeling overwhelmed.
