Pathology of Septic Shock

Severe sepsis and septic shock are the most serious compli­ cations of bacterial infections. Both gram-positive and gram­ negative bacteria can trigger these extreme inflammatory re­ sponses and, by so doing, cause substantial morbidity and mortality.
