Plain Retribution by Dana R. Lynn

Ten years ago while on rumspringa, Rebecca Miller and her friends were kidnapped and held captive…and now, living in the English world, she's nearly abducted again. One by one her friends who once helped send their abductor to jail are targeted, and she is next…unless police officer Miles Olsen can stop a killer. Deaf since birth, the only person on the force that Rebecca can communicate with is Miles, and he needs this case to redeem himself of past mistakes. When the relentless killer tracks them deep into the heart of Amish country, protecting Rebecca must be Miles's sole focus. Because a mistake this time will cost something worth more to him than his job—the woman he's falling for.

You won't want to put it down! A great book with a lot of action, this predator just will not give up and doesn't care who he hurts as long as he gets his target. Yes, a must read! Now onto the next book in the series, "Amish Christmas Abduction".

After reading the last book in series, I had to go back and read Rebeccas. What a tale! Rebecca is deaf, has left the Amish community to live in a world that accepts and communicates with hard of hearing and deaf. She is educated and smart, loving and suffered an unimaginable attack when she was a teenager. But someone is out to kill her. I am glad the author provided a handsome, caring policeman , Miles who is able to sign. Is grandparents were deaf so he is more sensitive to her feelings and is her protector . Fast paced read. Cruel, vicious predator who attacks Rebecca and her friends and sister. Feel good ending as Miles and her family gather for dinner and of course, "the proposal".

Plain Retribution is a frantic story of kidnapping freedom them kidnapping twice over - but not just of one person but a group of people - The second time they are never to be found - it is a gothic tale about poor Rebecca who was kidnapped with some of her friends during Rumspringa - they were found and freed(all but one was found alive) - Praise GOD - but ten years later hey wait I cannot tell you the whole story but what starts happening is bizarre - now - what is happening to one of the girls and what there was was a major major secret I am not telling you about Rebecca. Then there is the protective police officer who is falling for her - but he can't because he is the head of the case. So what will happen? What happened to her friends? Will they find all her friends? will she remain so defensesive? Will she let them down for her knight in shining armour? Will he survive? This book is awesome, heart pounding, I honestly was scared in the middle of the night alone and enjoyed it very much - this book is phenomenal. I received a copy of this book from the Publisher and Netgalley; all the opinions expressed in this review are all my own.

An amazing adrenaline rush! I absolutely love both Rebecca Miller and Miles Olsen! They are so incredibly well developed. The amount of details that are given as to how a deaf girl would be treated is fantastic. My heart broke for Rebecca every time that the distance between her and her family came up. I can’t imagine what it would be like to not be able to hear. This book helped me to have some understanding of what deaf people deal with all the time. The plot for this story was wonderful! There were lots of twists and turns that kept me guessing as to how everything fit together. I just knew that I needed to find out how the mystery of who was attacking Rebecca and why turned out. The attraction between Rebecca and Miles was just bonus content for me. I received a free copy of this book from the author. I have chosen to write this review to express my personal opinion. The past has come back to haunt Rebecca Miller after she’s nearly abducted outside her place of employment. Reminders of that frightful time of her abduction ten years ago hit her and she’s once again paralyzed. Thankfully, police officer Miles Olsen comes to her rescue after she barely escapes with her life. She soon discovers all of the girls who were captured with her years ago are now targeted since they helped put their assailant away. She’s next. Police officer Miles Olsen is out to correct past mistakes when Rebecca’s case lands on his doorstep, but can he keep his head straight as the beautiful deaf girl wheedles down his resolve to stay distant. Her life depends on it. Rebecca and Miles face numerous attacks as they race to find the assailant. Can they discover his identity before he succeeds in the chase to capture his final target? And can Rebecca and Miles fight their growing attraction for each other or will it get in the way of the case? Dana R. Lynn has done it again with this action-packed tale! Plain Retribution will capture you from the first page and leave you breathless until you reach the final sentence. I loved the second installment of the Amish Country Justice series. Picking up with Rebecca’s story is a fitting way to continue with this series and having Miles trying to rectify past mistakes makes for a powerful read. The faith interwoven throughout adds to the storyline as does the use of the deaf protagonist. It has a freshness to it. The characters are well developed and likable. You feel yourself cheering them on as they race against the clock. I liked that the author brought in characters from past books. The plot keeps you guessing and glued to the pages. I give Plain Retribution five stars. It’s a suspenseful ride you’ll want to get on! **Book has been provided courtesy of the author in exchange for my honest review.

What a breathtaking, fast-paced, action-packed, suspenseful story this was! I was glued to the book from the start to finish, it was impossible to put down because you never knew what kind of twist or attack the protagonist had to face next. The anticipation in the tale is intense! The only thing that stayed the same, stayed constant, was the unwavering faith their had in God, the trust they had that He will guide them and protect them no matter what they have to face. The faith was sincere, natural to them, and well embedded into the story. Rebecca Miller was a heroine I not only liked but respected immensely. She knew who she was, she was comfortable with herself, she is capable, able, smart, and sweet. The insights to the world of non-hearing people were eye openers to me, the author pointing out and highlighting things, habits, and challenges that made me take notice. Miles Olsen as a complex hero was well done. Him struggling with his past mistakes, being honest about them, learning from them and growing as a man, police officer, and a friend was a remarkable to witness. Despite his past problems and behaviors, or maybe because he was so honest about it, I liked him. He is protective, caring, kind man, his growing feelings towards Rebecca were endearing, and his sweet disposition when it came to her was adorable. His temperament was so cool and calm until Rebecca walked into the picture. The tempo of the story is fast and escalating as the culprit's crimes and assaults get even more violent and intense. I enjoyed the story immensely, the threatening, deadly suspense, the delightful and charming budding romance, and the strong belief that God will guide them and keep them safe, all the component of the tale were well twined together, making it flow naturally from the pages while being engaging and entertaining! ~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side

Plain Retribution will have your riveted and page turning as fast as you can, with non-stop action, this book will have you ducking as shots seem to come out of no where. Rebecca was a young Amish girl when she was kidnapped and tortured along with some other girls, while one died the man was brought to justice and as far as she knew he was in jail. All of a sudden she is being attacked, but why, had the evil one escaped from jail? Why are things happening all over again? Will Rebecca ever be safe, and what of the others? Can Detective Miles help her, even with their growing affection, will one or both of them end up dead. This book has a bit of everything, our Rebecca being deaf, and Miles having grown up with deaf relatives really has her life on the line, but why? If you enjoy a fast pace, non-stop action book, this one is for you, you will never see coming what is about to happen! I received this book through Net Galley and Love Inspired Suspense, and was not required to give a positive review.

I've been waiting for Rebecca's story since meeting her as a side character in “Plain Target”! I loved getting to know this gentle young woman. My heart ached knowing what happened to her and her friends ten years before when they were abducted. Targeted once again, it's up to officer Miles Olsen to keep her safe and track down the killer. He's the only person on the force who knows sign language and can interpret for Rebecca. Being deaf ramps up the danger and it seems the killer is always one step ahead of the game! Will they be able to outrun him before it's too late? A definite page turner! The chemistry between these two was palatable, sizzling just beneath the surface. For reasons you'll learn by reading this story, they both resist the pull of attraction. Plus, running for your life puts a damper on anything romantic! I had no idea who the killer was, the author kept me guessing. I wondered why he was always knew where Rebecca was, and that added to the tension. I also loved how God was a natural part of the story. Having come from an Amish background, Rebecca had the foundation of faith in her life & relied on God's strength to get her through, along with Miles equally strong faith. Romantic chemistry, danger in every corner and quite a few twists makes for a story that I couldn't put down until the end. Then I could breathe again! Great as a stand alone, but made better if you've read Plain Target. * I received an early copy provided by the author. Loved this Amish suspense by Dana R Lynn! What do you do when someone has targeted you and you're deaf? The only person you can rely on is police officer Miles Olsen to keep you safe, who is the only person in town you can communicate with. But can he protect the woman he's falling for, or will his past mistakes cause him to slip up and get her hurt? Everything he knows and loves is on the line until he can secure Rebecca's safety. When Rebecca is kidnapped again, will she survive long enough for Miles to save her? I enjoyed this story's look at deafness and communication. Miles grew up signing and speaking in ASL (American Sign Language). Rebecca is working toward a Certified Deaf Interpreter certificate. Dana's depiction of Rebecca's deafness increased my awareness of some of the things she encountered in her daily life. I received a free copy in the hope that I would mention/review it on my blog. I was not required to give a positive review, only my honest opinion - which I've done. This is book two in the Amish Country Justice series, however it is a stand alone book. I am sure I missed some history of some of the sub characters yet it did not make this novel hard to keep up with. This novel is full of mystery, suspense, and romance. It is not your typical Amish type novel. Even though, Rebecca Miller, grew up Amish, she has chosen the English world. The Amish do appear and play a role in this book but it is not the primary focus. Rebecca Miller is a beautiful, kind hearted, deaf woman. She is just trying to forget a horrible past experience in her life and move on. Yet, is her past trying to catch up with her or is this new threat totally unrelated. Miles Olsen is a handsome detective whom happens to know sign language and has helped Rebecca in her past. Will he be able to overcome some of his own fears and solve the threat against Rebecca before more harm comes to her?
