Fueled with the want to write my own poetry, I set out to find a book on how to go about it, and this book was better than what I expected to find. It gives great ideas for writing, includes poems as examples and inspiration, and points out all the aspects for writing great poetry. I highly recommend it, no matter what level you're on.

First of all I will say I am a huge fan of Addonizio's poetry, and when I had to buy this for a creative writing class (when usually I moan about buying textbooks), I bought it with such pride and excitement, I didn't mind standing in line for the good half an hour at my college. Like I've said before in previous reviews and on my profile, poetry is a huge passion of mine and though I try to have a schedule when I write, of course, like all writers, my head gets clouded. That's where this wonderful, handy little guide comes in. Filled with dozens of ideas, it should keep anyone writing for days. I also really loved that, on top of my ever growing love for poetry, it made me appreciate it more and even introduced me to new poets and poems I fell in love with. This is a must have for every poet.

This book is very informative, concerning the art and craft of producing poetry, but the best part about it is the section titled "Ideas for Writing" that follows the lessons in each chapter. Try just a single exercise in each chapter, and you'll soon have a chapbook of fantastic poetry of your own!

Good insights on the process of writing and compelling writing ideas and exercises from two engaging, accessible poets whose work I admire and enjoy. I especially liked the "Twenty-Minute Exercises" section.

A lot of writing guides are total bunk, but this one is really quite good.

This book is very readable. I didn't like the student poems though. But the information about the places to publish and how to go about having your materials published is excellent. The assignments are challanging and a good way to overcome writers block. All in all a great buy.

This book is fantastic! Whenever I get writer's block, I just pick it up and it gives me loads of ideas. I rarley need to read more than a page or two before ideas spring to mind. I love it!

I thought this was a great book and could be enjoyed by anyone young or old. It helped me come along way in my own writing. The different exercises and topics really help alot. Comming from two authors who are experts in the subject of poetry I recommend this book to anyone interested in poetry no matter your level of experiance.
