Overview

This Sleeping Beauty isn't sure she wants to wake up…

Dance instructor Rory Callahan likes to play it safe. When she meets Kyle, he's impulsive, persistent, and her exact opposite. He's pushing her to tango way past her comfort zone and keeping Rory on her toes more than twenty years of dance teachers ever had.

Unfortunately, he's the grandson of her family's archrival and she doesn't want to disappoint them. After all, her parents imagine her as a proper princess - hence her namesake Aurora, AKA Sleeping Beauty. Complicating matters, Rory's also dealing with a surgeon boyfriend who's perfect for her (sort of), an obnoxious boss, and desperate dance moms. Kyle wants to change her whole life, but Rory doesn't like the stakes. After all, princesses are the ones who get the happy endings. . .aren't they?

This sweet romantic comedy is a standalone and can be read on its own. All books in the series can be read in any order so jump in at any time.

‘Prancing Around With Sleeping Beauty’ is the second book in the Storybook Valley series by Stacy Juba, the first book ‘Fooling Around with Cinderella‘, I reviewed back in December 2015. In this second book, we meet Rory (Aururo Rose Callahan), who is the younger sister of one of the main characters in book one, Dylan, who is the general manager of Storybook Valley, an amusement park similar to Disney’s Magic Kingdom, owned by the Callahan family. Rory is a dance instructor whose life revolves around teaching children choreographed routines for competitions and dealing with ‘dance mums’ and a boss who is just as bad as the mums. One evening on her way home she trips over a pet carrier and falls hurting herself. The pet carrier containing Turbo the Hedgehog belongs to Kyle Thorne who works for Storybook Valley’s main rival the local zoo. He is funny and charming unlike her boyfriend Dr. Brad Walker who has made it perfectly clear to Rory that she comes second to his work and that he isn’t ready to settle down and move their relationship on. Rory and Kyle hit it off instantly but she has always been the sensible one, is it time to let go off her rigid life and have some fun and adventures with Kyle? Prancing Around With Sleeping Beauty is an easy to read, short novel. It might be the second in a series but it is fine to read as a standalone. The setting is fun and exciting, especially as you don’t find many books set within a fairy tale theme park. There is lots of laugh-out-loud moments as well as heart-warming ones too and the book really comes alive once Kyle and Rory meet. This is pure chick-lit from beginning to end. My only little niggle is how many characters there were. I had to make notes to remember them all. If you are after a clean, sweet read that has wonderful characters and a perfect setting, plus, can be read in one or two sittings then this is the book to choose.

I voluntarily received an ARC of Prancing Round With Sleeping Beauty in exchange for an honest review.  This is the second installment of the Storybook Valley series, and I found it even sweeter than the first.   I usually am not a huge fan of “clean” romances, but this series is so charming. The characters are so incredibly endearing; I couldn’t help but fall in love with them.   Rory and Kyle sparked from the first moment they met, and I found myself smiling through most of the story. This is one of those feel-good romances that made my heart melt. Prancing Around With Sleeping Beauty (Storybook Valley) is a fantastic light-hearted read, that is clean and dare I say wholesome.   Even though this isn’t my usual read, I still loved it all the same, and I am giving it 5 Boundless Stars.

Loved this book! This is a sweet romance that just made me smile. In it, Rory is a dance instructor struggling with employment issues when she trips over Kyle, the grandson of the family her family has been feuding with for many years. However, instead of the dull witted animal jailer she expected, he's intelligent, kind, and well educated. When the sparks fly, they try to quietly get to know each other without upsetting their families....or be true to themselves. What follows is a charming romance that fans of the genre will love. While this is a sweet romance you can let your teens read without concern, this grandma loved every page of it. Put this one on your must reads list.

Reviewed by Samantha March for Readers' Favorite Prancing Around With Sleeping Beauty: A Storybook Valley Sweet Romantic Comedy by Stacy Juba had me by the title. I’m a Disney princess fanatic (and I have the Halloween costumes to prove it, and not just as a little girl) so I was looking forward to hearing the story of Rory Callahan – named after Aurora AKA Sleeping Beauty. I didn’t realize it going into the novel that this is actually the second book in A Storybook Valley series, but it just took me a couple of chapters to head to Amazon to verify this was indeed in a series. It didn’t hinder much for me, though there was definitely a lot of back story shared throughout, which possibly could be distracting if you have read the first book. Sometimes this particular story seemed hard to keep moving forward, when so much of the past was continually being brought into the present. Regardless of that, I did enjoy the story. There is a sweet romance between dance instructor Rory and Kyle – who happens to be the grandson of her family’s arch-rivals. Rory has the difficult decision of pursing a relationship or causing strain to her family, and adding in the fact that she has a boyfriend upon meeting Kyle adds another wrinkle to her romance. Nothing ever gets particularly deep in the story, except a quick scene at the end between Rory and her grandfather that added tension to the plot.Overall, this is a short and sweet romance that I found fulfilling to read and would recommend if you are looking for a light romance with a Disney twist.
