Pucked Up: The Pucked Series, Book 2

Pucked Up: The Pucked Series, Book 2

by Helena Hunting

Miller “Buck” Butterson has been banging his way through life ever since a puck to the face fixed his messed up front teeth. After five years in the NHL, deflecting goals on the ice and scoring them with puck bunnies, Miller has decided he’s ready for a girlfriend. A real, non-bunny girlfriend to take on dates, and not jump into bed with after five seconds of conversation.

Miller thinks he’s found that woman in his teammate’s sister. Except, unlike team captain and all-around nice guy Alex Waters—who happens to date his stepsister, Miller’s media reputation as a manwhore is well earned. Beyond that minor detail, Miller doesn’t know the first thing about relationships or the time and effort they require.

Miller learns—eventually—that if he wants to make Sunshine “Sunny” Waters fall for him, he's going to have to do a whole lot more than show her his stick skills in the bedroom.

I love this author, but this story was seriously awful. Sunny didn’t have any personality, and she felt like she was basically just a lazy vegan stereotype. There was no chemistry between her and Buck, and the situations they ended up in seemed way too fabricated and not a natural progression of the story. To be honest, it feels like the author is trying way too hard to recreate the adorable quirky nature of the first one. Idk. You know a romance novel is not up to snuff when you actually root for the couple to not end up together.

I have to admit, I wasn't really a fan of Buck in Pucked, but this book had me head over heels for Miller! He completely won me over. This was a sexy and funny read, but to me it was a lot more emotional than Pucked. I can not believe I might actually love Miller more than Alex!! Helena Hunting books are definitely a must read!!

I really am getting into this series by Helena Hunting. I am a huge hockey fan... Add to that a romantic comedy that touches on a topic that is not only part of my own personal life but also my girl's lives... The life of a dyslexic person. Reading Miller's story was like taking a page out of my own life at times it my girl's... Author Helena Hunting was able to write a dyslexic person's struggles in to this story so seamlessly. Sunny and Miller so far might be my favorite couple in this series but then again I am a wee bit biased. It was nice to catch up with Alex and Vi and yes we got introduced to the next couple in this series .... What a fun series this is too.

I loved Violet in the first book, Pucked. This second book is told from her step-brother's point of view. We don't get Sunny's point of view, which works best for this story. The sad thing is that I started reading these stories because of my coloring book as well as the fact that the author is going to be at Apollycon this year. I was going to be a volunteer again, but I just can't afford to do it this year. So now I don't get to meet the author, who I'm again, totally blown away by. I loved Miller's story. Although I'll always think of him as a Yeti, thanks to Violet. I really found Miller to be a sweetie. Even the way he took care of his sister was sweet. There were parts that made me laugh, and parts that made me cry. And then, the spider bite, I mean that was hilarious! And even though I'm not a guy, the part describing the needle draining the spider bite made me cringe and even get a bit queasy myself. Love, love, love this series.

‘I don’t want to be doomed to a life of bunnies and no substance. They’re not what I want. I want someone consistent. But caring that much about someone gives them a lot of power, and that makes me nervous. Power hurts people.’ ~Miller Minor spoilers alert Thank goodness for long holiday weekends! I loved being able to read Pucked and Pucked Up back-to-back. My expectations were high going into Buck's story. Fortunately, I wasn't disappointed. I loved that his story dealt with several complicated issues like how he coped with his dyslexia, how social media impacted his private life and his sincere attempt to have a serious romantic relationship with Sunny, in addition to his initially under the radar charity work to help enrich the lives of challenged kids. His romance with Sunny was at times refreshingly sweet, but also very challenging and full of sexy goodness. I also really enjoyed Miller and Violet's step-sibling dynamic. Even though Violet teased him constantly about his Yeti-ness, she was Team Miller when it really mattered, often giving him realistic romantic relationship advice. I loved seeing that kind of step-sibling unity. I think I hit a record for an insane amount of highlighted moments and bookmarked pages on this one. There's something extra special about reading a romantic comedy entirely from the male POV. I grinned almost constantly it seemed and laughed so hard at times that my head ached or my eyes leaked tears. There were also sentimental moments that I couldn't help but love as well. It's definitely another new all-time favorite. Up next in this series is Pucked Over (Pucked #3), expected out in January 2016. I'm looking forward to reading how Miller's bestie Randy finally falls and embraces love in his novel.

This was extremely entertaining! Super funny, really hot, bits of angst and drama. Great read! There were so many mishaps and awkwardness and it was awesome! Miller Butterson (Buck) had the best internal dialogue going on. I love that this is all from his POV! He tried hard and he meant well but things happened and hilarity and misadventure issued. I liked him and was rooting for him! He is such a good guy but comes off as not too bright but he's so much more than he seems. Honestly, sometimes I felt sorry for him. He totally grew on me throughout the story. I thought Sunny (Sunshine Waters) was really sweet, she had this naivety to her that was adorable and exasperating all rolled into one. I loved watching everything develop, the fun and the sexy and the inevitable problems and how everything worked out. Some things were out and out crazy but in a that-could-only-happen-to-Miller-I'm-totally-giggling kind of way. Both Miller and Sunny were a great mix of fun and frustrating, I loved them but wanted to smack them sometimes because of their stubbornness. Mixed in with the craziness that had me laughing were some really sweet moments as well. I loved those! And the hot! Lots of hot! It was all pretty fantastic. I really liked seeing more of Vi and Alex, and all the things that happened and tension that was there. It played out really well. I liked getting the snippet of Randy and Lily as well... I'm curious to know if they'll get their own story. So many witty parts! I absolutely enjoyed this! Spiders and exes and poison ivy oh my! For a nice dose of laughter and a lot of heat, Pucked Up is the way to go! Complimentary copy received for honest review.

Sunny and Miller are my least favorite couple in this wonderful series. They are very sweet together, but both their intelligence and maturity are far below the others. Still, it's a great series and helps to read them in order, so don't skip this one. It gets better!

3.5☆ Not as good as Pucked, but still pretty good and quite funny. I like Buck, but not as much as Alex, although Alex did make me mad a few times in this one actually. It can be quite entertaining being in Buck's head at times. I felt bad for him for a good chunk of the book, he really couldn't catch a break. I like Sunny a lot, she's really a sweetheart. I wish that we got some of her perspectives as well though. I was so-so on the storyline. I liked some parts and didn't like others.

The Yeti is my fave of the series! I LOVED this book! Pucked was so much fun, and while this one was too, it also dealt with some serious issues in a great way. Miller is a pretty amazing guy!

This book is laugh out loud, hilarious. I woke my daughter up in the middle of the night from laughing out loud. It has one of my most favorite, memorable scenes ever. Miller is really trying to be on his best behavior to impress Sunny. He loves hockey and his life but the puck bunnies have not helped with him image. He has a lot of work to do to show Sunny he really has changed and has her best interests at heart. This book is full of laughs and love. Such an enjoyable read. Love Helena and the Pucked series. Enjoy!!!

I am working my way through this series in audio and *warning* this series is NOT suitable for mixed company. I laughed my way through this and was delighted with it. I swear, I wish Violet was my best friend because she is hilarious! Her book was the first one and she shows up quite often since this one is about her step-brother Miller "Buck" Butterson who is on the same NHL team as her fiance and his sister Sunshine "Sunny" Waters. Miller has the worst luck and even though he has tried to mend his ways and stay away from the puck bunnies, he seems to be a beacon for them and social media backlash. I kept saying to myself "poor Miller" and then "wise up" but really he needs an intervention! Definitely a "tongue-in-cheek" series and not for everyone but lighthearted and FUN read/listen!

I loved the first book in the series and I loved several of her other books but this one was a struggle to finish. I crossed the finish line limping with this one. I wasnt a fan of Sunny from the start. She was dull and had zero personality. The situations they were put in seemed really unnatural and weird and didnt add much to the story. I was glad when the book was done..not because they live HEA but because the struggle to finish the book was over.

I will be reading this entire series. Fun and funny.

I liked this raunchy love story gone awry. The main characters aren't run of the mill but remind me of people I know. I love the sympathy for people with learning disabilities and terminal illness. A good read.

This is book 2 of the Pucked series and another book that will have you laughing out loud. Miller Butterson is a professional hockey player, who has a reputation with puck bunnies, until he meets Sunshine "Sunny" Waters, the younger sister of Alex Waters, a teammate of Miller's who just happens to be in a relationship with Miller's sister Violet. Sunny is well aware of Miller's reputation and does not want to be another puck bunny, and Miller wants to show her that he is sincere in his pursuit of her and not looking to add her to his list of conquests. The only problem he continues to have is Sunny seeing the pictures of him printed in the media with puck bunnies. Can Buck prove to her that he can be faithful? Can he prove to her that she is it for him or does she believe what she sees on the internet? You will have to read it to find out.

Great Read! It was a bit of a rocky start, just a little young in the writing. I then fell in love with Violet and Alex! Violet is just a bit crazy...

Pucked Up (Pucked #2) by Helena Hunting NHL defenseman Miller “Buck” Butterson has a well-earned reputation as a ladies’ man. He finds the one girl he would finally like to settle down with, Sunshine “Sunny” Waters. He is going to have to convince a lot of people that he has changed in order to win her over among them: Sunny herself; her brother Alex Waters, center/team captain; Violet Hall, Miller’s step-sister/Alex’s girlfriend; and don’t forget the media. I sympathized for poor, Miller; he kept trying so hard and felt like the majority of the time things did not go well for him (i.e. spider bite – omg). Being dyslexic definitely is not in his favor and goes against him on more than one occasion. Yes, sometimes he could have been smarter. His friend Lance is not a good influence. However, I like Miller and he truly does try, and he has a great heart. Being from Chicago, I love that Miller grew up there and currently plays for Chicago. Sunny is not an obvious match for Miller. She is very into holistic living. The long-distance Canadian-Chicago relationship also is not in their favor. I do like Sunny; she is a very sweet person. She lets her friends and family influence her a little too much. For example, I did not approve of her little camping trip. I like that she owns up to her mistakes. I really enjoyed Pucked Up’s plot. There were a lot of interesting things that happened that I would never have expected. The book flows well and reads quickly. Randy, Miller’s best friend, and Lily, Sunny’s best friend, meet in this novel. I am looking forward to their story in the next book: Pucked Over (Pucked #3).
